better than anything hella has ever done. unlike hella, not just technique and speed but more fucking around more plus heart. the book is nifty too and i love the title of the book part, Destroying Yourself is too Accessible. discuss. blah blah blah. oh really?

five years pass...

new free ZH single avail on amazon, and is pretty sick. Can't think of any other bands doing stuff like this, noise/prog/dubstep hybrid, but in pop-song forms. also maybe like a noisy, freer Battles, with funner hooks and harder edge.

of the two or three songs I've heard from it, it's a little more cleaned up sonically, and the songs were shorter than most of the last album (that said, maybe there will also be 8 minute drum solos on this record). the manic, post compression-as-weapon production is one of the coolest parts, and it seems like he's getting better at making the army of noises and beats make sense amongst the chaos
