call the venue/booker and tell them that you're holly from "X magazine" and that you also cover music for your university paper and then ask if they offer press passes. you're giving not only the artist but the venue exposure which they may be sympathetic to granting you free entry.

I'd pay fifteen dollars for that. Ghost were amazing on Tuesday, and I love Double Leps. Noxagt aren't too shoddy either. Ask them to play their Pearls Before Swine cover.
