hot dog or burrito

choose

cuz like if there was a gun to your head and the guy was like you can only eat hot dogs for the rest of your life or burritos for the rest of your life forever

you are all gonna say burritos

i choose dogs

you can put a lot of stuff on a dog if you want to

even rice & beans

scott seward, Sunday, 20 February 2011 17:21 (thirteen years ago) link

burrito. Yeah, you can put lots of stuff on a dog, but there doesn't have to be a central object in a burrito. In a hot dog there is always something that is the center of attention. PLUS it has more potential to make a mess and burritos can be bigger.

peacocks, Sunday, 20 February 2011 17:28 (thirteen years ago) link

hot dogs can be pretty big!

BACON BURRITO DOG
Big flour tortilla wrapped around 2 hot dogs,
2 slices of cheese, 3 slices of bacon, chili & onions

see at pinks its a burrito dog not a dog in a burrito.

scott seward, Sunday, 20 February 2011 17:39 (thirteen years ago) link

yes i am saying that burritos are the black hole of the food universe

its true! a burrito is multi-faceted.

scott seward, Sunday, 20 February 2011 17:40 (thirteen years ago) link

I feel that since a burrito could be defined as anything with a tortilla wrapped around it that that menu item is, in fact, a dog in a burrito.

peacocks, Sunday, 20 February 2011 17:41 (thirteen years ago) link

I do understand that your preference may just be for hot dogs and have nothing to do with size or variety of the stuff you put in it. I'm not going to begrudge your love.

xp. that is how I prefer to eat most of my food, tbh.

Burrito is the perfect meal, basically.

a hot dog can be perfect. and yeah i just love a good hot dog. even with nothing but the condiment of my choice on top. mad props to the burrito though.

i always order steak burritos.

scott seward, Sunday, 20 February 2011 17:53 (thirteen years ago) link

actually lately i've been opting for the steak bowl. which is a burrito-less burrito.

easier to eat at work.

Then I have to vote burritos.

my parents opened a "burrito joint" when i was in high school that became really hip among the cute popular girls at school, i worked as a busboy & dishwasher there, so many gr8 memories

whenever i buy hot dogs i eat nothing but hot dogs until i eat every hot dog. they're just too easy idk

flopson, Sunday, 20 February 2011 19:47 (thirteen years ago) link

hot dogs are totally the winnnerz here.
chili dogs, cheeze dogs, dogs with avocado and wrapped in bacon, dogs with spicy mustard, dogs with sauerkraut, dogs with raw onion, olneyville 'new york system' style hot weiners, giant 1 lb hot dogs from the polish butcher, corn dogs, veal/pork dogs with natural casings, kosher dogs..

burritos, vegetarianism making the choice kinda easier

your LiveJournal experience (schlump), Sunday, 20 February 2011 20:46 (thirteen years ago) link

pretty sure i am gonna make vegetable burritos tonight. i put beets and squash in mine is that wrong

Secrets will not Block Justice (harbl), Sunday, 20 February 2011 20:52 (thirteen years ago) link

kinda can't imagine it if they're 'wet' beets, but if they're dry/grated it's probably cool?

your LiveJournal experience (schlump), Sunday, 20 February 2011 20:59 (thirteen years ago) link

beets in a burrito, probably ends up lookin all tie dye.

not everything is a campfire (ian), Sunday, 20 February 2011 21:37 (thirteen years ago) link

what will the world think of next!

not everything is a campfire (ian), Sunday, 20 February 2011 21:37 (thirteen years ago) link

beet flavored tortillas would be tasty. they have red tortillas but i think thats just dye.

scott seward, Sunday, 20 February 2011 21:44 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah it does make everything pinkish red, u can just cut them up and cook them not for too long so it's not mushy. it's good because they are sugary and it goes with the hotness of jalapenos just right in my opinion. i like those orange trader joe tortillas!

Secrets will not Block Justice (harbl), Sunday, 20 February 2011 22:05 (thirteen years ago) link

i did used to love hotdogs tho but they are too full of preservatives and i don't know what for my body to deal, ouch :/ i wld eat quality preservative-free sausage on a bun any day of the week tho! but that is not a hot dog technically i guess

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Monday, 21 February 2011 00:42 (thirteen years ago) link

if preservatives were good enough for our grandparents then they're good enough for us imo.

The Marquis de Sade Adu (sic), Monday, 21 February 2011 00:51 (thirteen years ago) link

imo vegetarians should politely abstain from this thread, as a soy hot dog is no one's favorite food, and lousy competition for even a a halfway-decent vegetarian burrito.

not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 21 February 2011 00:51 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, i thought of that. veggies aint got no hot dog love. understandable. knew everyone would go burrito too. ian the exception that proves the rule or something.

scott seward, Monday, 21 February 2011 01:05 (thirteen years ago) link

i love burritos too, ya gotta understand, but hot dogs are inseparable from the idea of America too me, and ya'll know i love america. hot dogs are freedom.

not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 21 February 2011 01:12 (thirteen years ago) link

i'm not from california. maybe if i grew up eating burritos from burrito trucks it would feel different to me.

i can remember eating cut up hot dogs with a fork, dipping them in ketchup on a paper plate. (very young, 3 years old?)
i can remember going to the hot dog cart in east greenwich RI sometimes when i was in elementary school. sometimes we'd stop there if my mom was picking up dry cleaning or going to the bank. i would sometimes get a hot dog with canned cheese on it.
i remember eating new york system hot wieners (google it) for the first time and being confounded by the celery salt, but now love it.
when i was in college i ate a lot of hot dogs. they were cheap to make at home and also cheap to get at gray's papaya, or papaya king.

not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 21 February 2011 01:15 (thirteen years ago) link

and by canned cheese i mean that sort of cheeze-whiz-esque compressed spray cheese stuff.

yeah i'm from connecticut. i don't know nothin' about nothin'.

scott seward, Monday, 21 February 2011 01:16 (thirteen years ago) link

i do love good hotdogs/sausage/etc. yer tubular meats in general.

scott seward, Monday, 21 February 2011 01:16 (thirteen years ago) link

when i was a bit older, still in elementary school, when we visited my grandparents in ridgefield, CT we would sometimes go to a hot dog seller on main street. i liked his chili dogs a lot, and also the dog with fondue on it. sometimes i would get one with both.

not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 21 February 2011 01:16 (thirteen years ago) link

you should never eat hotdogs in australia and you should hardly ever eat burritos in australia so from a local viewpoint burritos win faintly.

i love mexican food and i've had good mexican food, but i never lived anywhere that had GREAT mexican food. maybe there's a place around here that i don't know about. springfield! i should try there.

scott seward, Monday, 21 February 2011 01:24 (thirteen years ago) link

it's the snap of that natural casing ime. mmmmm. 'saugies' brand dogs are a good example of this. (new england favorite, forget if they're MA or RI--just know you can't get em here.)

not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 21 February 2011 01:25 (thirteen years ago) link

or they might have good puerto rican food in springfield anyway. i'll ask around.

scott seward, Monday, 21 February 2011 01:26 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah see, to me, hot dogs and burritos are different sides of america and neither can be found in truly acceptable form here, imo (there are good variants, but they are not the same) - or maybe they just taste better with american air, i don't know. i've just been obsessed with burritos this past year b/c of going to california a couple of times and eating amazing burritos like every day!
