Gear, do you have...some kind of...agenda?

Howard Wine (nordicskilla), Friday, 8 October 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

This is a bit like my Killing Joke sucks thread the other day.
They locked that one...

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 8 October 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I no like beer commercial country

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes but C.E. of the V.V. does and this is the thread where we call him out for being full of shit?

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

listening to B&R is like living in an apartment full of perfectly assembled, perfectly functional Ikea furniture, subsiding on a diet of nothing but Burger King and sugar packets.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know why that is.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

C.E. once told me a link to a friend's band's mp3 didn't work when it totally did thus he is a liar and a fink.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:17 (twenty-one years ago)

CE seems personable enough. it's that Xgau idiot I hate. Everyone sucks his dick, presumably because he gives/gave them good gigs.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno, I think when people aren't sucking Xgau's dick they're busy sucking CE's.

And personable! Ha!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

ILM seems like a VV/SW circle jerk sometimes, which I find more funny than anything.

CE seems more personable than XG, how's that, ha

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

what kind of circle jerk is the noise board?

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

BRDMS/WLFEYZ!

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

ConT/SPRKS

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

No offense, Gear, but you like some pretty mainstream stuff yourself, eh? I mean, you have on occasion stated quite plainly that U2 is your all-time fave band, right? Which is fine! I like U2 myself. You can see that AChtung Baby placed quite highly on my 1990s ballot (and I hope it places really high! higher than fuckin' Radiohead for Christ's sake). but it's pretty lame to call people out JUST on the basis of being real enthusiastic about a commercial sounding record. FWIW I do like that Big & Rich record; I like it mainly for the harmonies, which are awesome. There is nothing like good sounding vocal harmonies. Also they do remind of a country Alice in Chains, which some dude on that other Big & Rich thread pointed out, so that's also a plus.

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Friday, 8 October 2004 02:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't tell, is that a CE parody?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:12 (twenty-one years ago)

obv I like mainstream stuff, I never said anything about it being mainstream and therefore crap, I just think that the gushing praise for B&R is at a histrionic level when held up next to the actual worth of the record, which I find mediocre.

I like Alice in Chains!

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

stence -- YES, but also, NO.

:)

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I've ever heard Alice In Chains.

Howard Wine (nordicskilla), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ROY WILLIAMS IS ON MY FANTASY TEAM

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn, stence I TOLD you to email me your street address!! On that other thread. And you never sent it to me.

So yeah, dude, just send it along and I'll be happy to oblige!

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

oh whoops, my bad. Don't put any B&R on there, please.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok, I won't. How about Alice in Chains, though?

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I like AiC okay but prolly have heard enough throughout my lifetime.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Too $hort does that self-harmony thing

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Too $hort = A BILLYION TIMES BETTER than B&R.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

YES

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I can go along with that! Man, I loved "The Ghetto", they used to play it all the time on MTV. It was years before I finally heard the Donny Hathaway version. Short-Dog can get pretty nasty though.

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:45 (twenty-one years ago)

haha first time I heard of Too $hort was on a PBS show about self-made musicians and he talked about selling tapes from his trunk. my mom saw it and thought it was inspiring so she bought me "Shorty the Pimp".

I THINK SHE THOUGHT TOO SHORT WAS A "POSITIVITY" RAPPER

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 8 October 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

oooh I wanna have the Donny Hathaway version. I really fell off of buying old R&B, soul and funk stuff once I moved to New York. It sucks.

i can understand why some would dislike chuck, but he actually gets excited about things, which most rock crickets are afraid to do else they look stupid in two years.

i like the b&r album, btw, especially "real world."

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 8 October 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

CE doesn't need two years.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 8 October 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

"rock crickets"

Face it dude, Buddy Holly is dead.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 8 October 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

did any of you guys see that MTV: true life - Im a rap slut? it basically followed around these girls who tried to fuck rappers. It was pretty great. One of the girls tried to blow too short in the middle of a crowded room right in front of the camera.

still bevens (bscrubbins), Friday, 8 October 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Howard Wine (nordicskilla), Friday, 8 October 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Howard Wine (nordicskilla), Friday, 8 October 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

They have stuff like that all the time on the Playboy channel, and they uh...actually show it, you know.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 8 October 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Howard Wine (nordicskilla), Friday, 8 October 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 8 October 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Howard Wine (nordicskilla), Friday, 8 October 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Cutty is in it, giving all of the love his mouth can handle to tha GHOSTFACE KILLAH.

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Friday, 8 October 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Platinum recording artist and hip-hop legend Ghostface Killah came of
age, along with the rest of the Wu-Tang Clan, in the infamous 'Killer'
Hill projects of Staten Island, New York. Unlike so many contemporary
hip-hop stars, Ghostface has actually lived what he raps about.

Famous for his intricate rhyme style and stream-of-consciousness
lyrics, he quickly emerged--along with Method Man and Raekwon--as one
of the biggest stars of the rap supergroup Wu-Tang Clan. From the
moment of the release of his first solo album, the now-seminal IRON
MAN, Ghostface has proven to be the most critically acclaimed member
of the Wu-Tang Clan.

He is, quite simply, one of the most innovative and talented rappers
to emerge from the hip-hop genre. His four albums are undisputed
classics, and his fan base is nothing less than evangelical in its
fervor. Here, for the first time, his full story--and that of the
infamous Wu-Tang Clan--is finally told.

"Iron Man: True Reflections from the Soul of the Wu-Tang Clan" is
written by Ghostface in collaboration with Elliott Wilson, it contains
304 pages and is being published by HarperCollins Publishers.

"Iron Man: True Reflections from the Soul of the Wu-Tang Clan" will be
released in October.
