Can literature "tell the truth" better than the other arts or "areas of knowledge"??
Areas of knowledge are:
-the arts
-natural science
-human science
-history
-mathematics
-ethics/religion

The purpose of literature, in my mind, is to tell something (true or just perceived) about the world that cannot be expressed any other way.

Some guy once tried to convince me that thousands of years ago, humans were just as knowledgeable & technologically advanced as we were... and they communicated THROUGH MUSIC.

He was also a dinosaurs-were-dragons-coexisting-with-humans creationist.
