I got caught by a mobile speed camera van last week, I was also doing about 3mph over the limit. We can compare fines when they send me my letter. Fuckers had parked the thing around a blind bend! Sneaky.

Australia is health and safety crazy. Reams of legislation and a thousand requirements. A boisterous roadie friend was recently booked for 'performing a dangerous headstand in public'. I put the obsession down to fear and paranoia concerning Australia's dangerous flora and fauna. My baby recently went up north to Cairns and found a plant with a sign in front of it saying words to the effect, 'Do not touch this plant - it will kill you'.
― moley, Monday, 7 April 2008 21:45 (seventeen years ago)
Does anyone know what this plant is called? Can we get a picture of it? Anyway, Lolstralia. I prefer the vibe in the attitude in the States - 'The hell anyone's going to tell me how fast I can drive!!'.

Haven't tourists here tried to sue national parks when they've fallen off dodgy cliffs and into the sea, for not signposting it as a dangerous spot? I mean w. t. f.
― Trayce, Monday, 7 April 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)
(um, well obv not the actual tourists who fell off the cliff)
― Trayce, Monday, 7 April 2008 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 05:04 (seventeen years ago)
I remember everyone was always scared of getting fined on the trains in Sydney for that. (this was 10 years ago tho) xpost
― wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 05:06 (seventeen years ago)
Of course, the reasoning behind such a huge fine is that I won't do it again.
Not to raise revenue for the state government.
Because that would be silly.
― King Boy Pato, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 06:53 (seventeen years ago)
So the point is here: abolish state governments.

you're not allowed to swear but you're allowed to smell so bad that everyone else vomits.
