and the whole office is really quiet and awkward and everyone is giving each other these exaggerated "wtf"/"whoa"/"what a shame" faces
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)
twenty five minutes and counting so far
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)

― tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:12 (seventeen years ago)
I have been that person and seen it happen to others. Sucks either way.
― snoball, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:14 (seventeen years ago)
i should bump this thread on days when this doesn't happen here. fools are always freaking out .people don't even notice it anymore.
― carne asada, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:15 (seventeen years ago)
I'm not saying that work should be all happy-happy fun time, but if it makes you totally lose your shit it's time to change jobs.
― snoball, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:15 (seventeen years ago)
every once in a while you can catch the muffled raising of voices. we've passed the 1/2 hour mark.
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:19 (seventeen years ago)
i cant get any work done while this is going on!!!!!
ok theyve emerged and just gone back to desks... good conflict resolution guys
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:27 (seventeen years ago)
keep an ear out for gossip, Max
― Finefinemusic, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:29 (seventeen years ago)
its a small office and this is only my 2nd week
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:29 (seventeen years ago)
then we can speculate even more wildly on whatever you do manage to hear!
― Finefinemusic, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:49 (seventeen years ago)
what kind of freak out was it?
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)
i imagine in your line of work this might happen a lot, max...
― tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:32 (seventeen years ago)
The best is when you can hear every screamed word with the doors closed.
(may only apply to ad agencies. My fav quote was "I"'M GETTING FUCKED!! AND I DON'T WANNA GET FUCKED!!!")
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 18:14 (seventeen years ago)
wait, max was thinking of taking a PR job, right?
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 18:27 (seventeen years ago)
as far as i can tell--one of the supervisors is taking away some call lists from the girl behind me to give to the temp we have at the office... she feels insulted, tells him that she doesnt want to work anymore, this is clearly not the job for her, tells him that he treats her like a baby, the other supervisor steps in, they spend 40 minutes in the conference room and emerge red-eyed like nothing happened.
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 18:38 (seventeen years ago)
its weird cause no one in the office is THAT neurotic/high-strung and its not really THAT high-pressure a firm, i just think these two dont work very well together
woah this sounds fun!
― tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)
so the temp is obviously sleeping with the supervisors.. and said supervisor just consoled the girl behind max in a variety of ways....ifyouknowwhatImean.
― Finefinemusic, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)
it was kind of awesome because this happened over the course of an hour or so, so the supervisor kept bugging the girl and you could just hear her getting more and more aggravated until she finally just snapped
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)
is the temp cringing or snickering at this turn of events?
― sunny successor, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:17 (seventeen years ago)
stony-faced silence as though it didnt happen, but shes actually worked here before so she knows everyone--thats why its not weird for her to get the call lists
― max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:46 (seventeen years ago)
My office has no designated freak-out conference room. People just yell at each other all over the office and so gossip runs rampant and a lot of us work with headphones on. I hate being forced to listen to confrontations. I am really not at all confrontational so it makes me feel embarrassed to see/hear arguments.

― very quotatious (tehresa), Friday, 5 December 2008 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
not really the same situation--this one girl told me that she was submitting her two weeks notice--but i just heard her crying and then she called this other guy who shes friends with into her office and shut the door
― beyonc'e (max), Friday, 5 December 2008 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
thread for max to bump when someone at his work freaks out and goes into the conference room and/or starts crying and goes into an office and shuts the door
― Mr. Que, Friday, 5 December 2008 17:33 (seventeen years ago)
lot of people cry at my office what do u want me to say?!
― beyonc'e (max), Friday, 5 December 2008 17:34 (seventeen years ago)
i hope you know that if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, and ear to listen, you can count on me, okay?
