What trick? It's about stimulating the economy and creating social pressure for people to get together with other people because of the socially beneficial ends associated with that. It's not some freakin courtesy for young couples falling in love. The only people I see care about this thing are 1) those absolutely gross couples nobody likes being around anyway and 2) people who are single who are reminded that they are very, very single when this day comes around.
