xp latebloomer - those threads contain the type of stuff that I definitely have felt at some point in my life, but there's no way I would post about it on a message board just to vent/wallow ... maybe it's just an innate reservation on my part, or partly due to recently watching gritty prison TV drama.

oh yeah i definitely have moments where my life isn't going well and i feel lonely and frustrated stuff. i just don't like to talk about it online. not that talking about it online is bad, just that when certain posters use it as a way to get attention without being willing to take advice or engage with other posters..it feels vampiric to me.

Yeah ... I'm not sure why that is, for me. I think it's partly not wanting to appear weak.

Yeah, I just don't see what those posters hope to gain from the exchange. I mean, the logical conclusion is someone saying, "Congratulations! You're life indeed sucks and is really horrible, and there is no hope 4U."

I would advise you get a close personal friend with a real depression. There's a big difference between willing and being able to hear advice and it's very annoying and frustrating when you're the one who's trying to help. It's easily mistaken for malice, but it really isn't. The only thing you can hope for is that they get professional help.

I feel bad because I definitely recognize the sentiment and its attendant pain, but...well, there's some people you just can't reach.

xp latebloomer: seriously ... I've suffered from it for 20+ years, and refused to go on medication for the first 13 of those years, because I thought I deserved to be miserable, and that medication would cloud my vision of reality.
