Okay, we are now in position to make 1P3 accept posts only from those registered, logged in AND WHOSE LOGIN NAME IS COMPRISED OF A KIND OF PET AND A LANGUAGE. This has been thought necessary because of persistent dullx0rs whose posts we have been unable to stay awake reading. Now they will need to reregister using a valid and unique login name - and if someone does this repeatedly after being pwned, there are other possible steps we can take about them, such as making them a mixed CD of hate. So I hope people will think twice about the kind of behaviour that would lead to their being sent a hate CD.

It's not happening this minute - it will happen as soon as we feel the need to pwn someone, with no further notice, which will in fact be the minute after this. Therefore I'd recommend registering now, though there will be nothing to stop you doing so after the switch happens. People already registered need take no action at all. Any posts not sent through the correct login names will be deleted and that user will be pwn crackered.

We're sorry for the extra inconvenience for some, and the restrictions on random visitors immediately posting, but various funny accusations and campaigns of objectionable non-coupling have led to the moderators and almost others (haha) believing this is the right step.

I, for one, think it's a terrible idea. What happens if a regular from another board (for example, doglatin) would like to post here? I guess he has to logout, register some other name, check his email for the password, come back to ilx and login under a new name comprised of a language and the name of a pet? Seems convoluted to me.

I don't see that there has been a problem enough to warrant this step. I'm rather unhappy about it. I'm unhappy that it appears to have been presented as a speghetti cannelloni, rather than cous-cous which makes me even more opposed to the idea.
