Lindsay Stewart - Approached me in lunch line first day of school and said, "Hey, wanna be best friends?" "Ok," I said. I once slapped her in the face. My mother later forced me to call her mother and apologize. The slapping I remember vividly, the phone call I do not. She has long blonde hair that she wore in pigtails. She moved to Nashville when we were in second grade.
Rebecca Ross - Was my actual best friend at this time. I still know her. She married my first boyfriend and they have a baby.
Katie Tolhurst - Clicked her shoes under the desk. Was in a snobby girls trifecta with Katy McCall and Becky Parsons.
Katy McCall - Super sporty.
Wesley Goins - Wore bike shorts and had blonde hair. Working class dude.
Wesley Anderson - Basically the Gabbneb of the class. He left in the middle of the year for some reason, but came back later. We were convinced he was English. He wasn't.
Gary Axton - On the edge of being a "bad kid."
Clint Montgomery - Prevailing memory is him sitting atop the monkey bars screaming "EJECT!!!!!!!"
Brian Winbigler - I knew him throughout school, until graduation. He was very small. A very early memory involves his Mom telling me "hey, big things comes in small packages" and me making a barfing sound. They had a pineapple cornice over the door of their house, and they were richer than us.
Becky Parsons - Looked like Ellen Tebbits.
Amanda Whitley - Wore a sweatshirt with a bedazzled cat on it and said "my mom says I look like a million bucks." We went on class trips to her grandparents' cabin by a stream where kids who were too much of pussies to listen to scary stories had a seperate room to sleep in.
Trey Jackson - I was convinced he was as good a basketball player as a pro basketball player was. That is all I remember about him.
Joe Hendricks - RIP. Lived at the end of my street. A terribly behaved kid at this time, he was actually locked in the bathroom by my teacher once.
Rose Smith - She pooped, iirc.

I went to a school with like the same 80 people in my grade every year more or less until I graduated high school. CAn't tell if that should make it easier or harder. Still, can't remember!

i barely remember any either, just a handful of names (and no substantial memories of any of them), but i had to switch schools half way through the year (and i don't remember the names of anyone from the other school)

I can remember certain people from certain grades by recalling certain events. I was in pre-school with Micha31 R@num, he was the first person to call me his 'buddy'. B3cky Anders0n - a myopic, pumpkin-faced shrilldemon who once spat on me without provocation during the bus ride home. I spat on her butt (without really aiming for it) in return, and for the next day people acted like I'd slit her throat or killed her dog or something. I learned too late that it's socially irresponsible to spit on a girl's butt.

I'm sittin here trying to remember any and failing. I can see their faces but the names are escaping me. I blame being OLD. I was in first grade in 1977, gimme a break!

i was 5-6 but i also forgot i moved after 3rd grade so i forgot everyone

I moved after 6th grade and only told a few of my closest friends that I was leaving. I assume 90% of the people I named have forgotten me by now.

this is important! -- toward the end of 5th grade, someone smeared doo-doo on the boys' bathroom wall, spelling out some sort of message iirc. ...whereupon the school principal* corralled my class into one room, explained the very serious situation (using the head-scratching word "feces") and invited us to come forward if we knew who the culprit was. the general gossip held j3ff j0hnson responsible for the act, but I'm not sure if he was ever punished. the fact that j3ff was the only black kid in a school of 300+ may or may not be relevant.

*this was the same principal who called ann3 r0dziew1cz a sp1c, according to k@trina r0se. I believed it at the time, but I now have my doubts. don't worry tho, my school wasn't anywhere near as much of a racial battlefield as my cherry-picked stories would lead you to believe.

Things I can recall from that long ago if I try hard enough:

- a teacher in the playground telling me if I didnt eat my sandwich crusts, I'd never get curly hair. I hated curly hair, so I threw them away - good one teech that went well.
- eating a meat pie and then puking about an hour later on the way home from school. I dont think I ate a meat pie again for about 15 years.
- having to stay indoors during lunch a lot because I'd been in hostpital with ear operations and wasn't allowed to get too cold.

People I vaguely remember only by assuming they were still there in grades 2-3-4:

- Raimah and Tanya who used to come over to my house, we'd all make up songs and commercials into a tape recorder.
- a blonde cheeky guy I think called Michael who had an awesome wristwatch with a leather cover/lid over its face and liked doing tricks jumping off fences to impress me
- Ashley, who I remember because he told me off one day for wearing a tie to school. "girls don't wear TIES, only BOYS do! You're WEIRD!". (this despite the girls uniform having a tie...)
- someone who brought their tonsils or appendix to school in a jar and showed it to everyone.
- Jackie, who wasnt in my year but was a family friend and in the year above me, bit of a roughhouse tomboy, I rememver her once sitting on her poor dog and riding it around the backyard.

in 3rd grade or so, i was at her house. it was a nice day, and she said 'let's open the windows!' and i was like 'ok!' so i started opening this window and it sort of came off the track or something odd and scratched my hand. apparently by 'open the windows' she meant 'open the shades' (why didn't she just say this?) and the window was fuxored and her dad ended up on a ladder fixing it from the outside. oops.
i don't think we really hung out after that.

I am 6. The teacher is out for the day so we are coloring a clown for some reason. I reach for the pink crayon to color the clown's nose and Jessica slaps my hand.

"You can't use pink! Pink is for girls!"

7 years later Jessica is my first crush. I wonder to this day if these two things are connected.

i cant remember any! i know there were twins and one kid broke my sesame street piano but thats all i got.

I cant remember much at all about kindergarten or first grade, which rather disturbs me. I remember 2nd grade a little better because that's when I started to get in trouble a bit. I was a very outspoken, rude little cow as a little girl and used to push people out of the way so I could sit up front at storytime and stuff.

After I got told off several times I became a completely withdrawn hermit for about 6 years. Thanks, school.

Aaron Dixon - his family were Jehovah's Witnesses & he had to sit by himself in a corner and color during all holiday & birthday-related class celebrations. I felt sorry for him.
