Hoos says no one remembers any. Is that true?!
Lindsay Stewart - Approached me in lunch line first day of school and said, "Hey, wanna be best friends?" "Ok," I said. I once slapped her in the face. My mother later forced me to call her mother and apologize. The slapping I remember vividly, the phone call I do not. She has long blonde hair that she wore in pigtails. She moved to Nashville when we were in second grade. Rebecca Ross - Was my actual best friend at this time. I still know her. She married my first boyfriend and they have a baby.Katie Tolhurst - Clicked her shoes under the desk. Was in a snobby girls trifecta with Katy McCall and Becky Parsons.Katy McCall - Super sporty.Wesley Goins - Wore bike shorts and had blonde hair. Working class dude.Wesley Anderson - Basically the Gabbneb of the class. He left in the middle of the year for some reason, but came back later. We were convinced he was English. He wasn't.Gary Axton - On the edge of being a "bad kid."Clint Montgomery - Prevailing memory is him sitting atop the monkey bars screaming "EJECT!!!!!!!"Brian Winbigler - I knew him throughout school, until graduation. He was very small. A very early memory involves his Mom telling me "hey, big things comes in small packages" and me making a barfing sound. They had a pineapple cornice over the door of their house, and they were richer than us.Becky Parsons - Looked like Ellen Tebbits.Amanda Whitley - Wore a sweatshirt with a bedazzled cat on it and said "my mom says I look like a million bucks." We went on class trips to her grandparents' cabin by a stream where kids who were too much of pussies to listen to scary stories had a seperate room to sleep in. Trey Jackson - I was convinced he was as good a basketball player as a pro basketball player was. That is all I remember about him.Joe Hendricks - RIP. Lived at the end of my street. A terribly behaved kid at this time, he was actually locked in the bathroom by my teacher once.Rose Smith - She pooped, iirc.

Left out:
Teresa Holiostos - She, Rebecca and I would braid each others hair during story time. We all three had unkempt hippy hair to our asses. She was by far the best of the braiders out of the three of us, because she could do fancy braiding. Her family was Greek and she joined the showchoir.

Kaylee H (part googleproofing, part cheating when i'll start to forget) - easy start, she's my cousin.Adam R - best friend for years. this is easy.Nick R - had a giant crush on his mum who worked in the library.Hannah S - easy, next door neighbour. extra points for being the first girl i ever saw naked.Christina ...something - Crazy bible kid, never wanted to have fun.Whitney S - first kiss, can't believe it took me down this far on the list to remember.Danielle O - became a glamour model.Ben D - left the school, ended up being good friends with him again in secondary school.
From a class of like 30. Can't remember for the life of me what my teachers actual name was, but she got nicknamed cabbage, so something that rhymed/sounded like that.
Oh wait:
Vicky... something - first teenage prego case I knew at 13.

Hayden Reagan ran through a glass door. Miles Alinson wasn't allowed to watch any cartoons. Victor Flug (was it really flug?) had a super young dad who later gave him a day off school to see the premiere of Aliens 3.I accidentally hit Sarah Atkinson in the face with a plastic tennis racket. I had to stand outside for a while because of it. Her friend, and my crush, grades 1 through 4, Kate O'hanlon was really mad at me. Nobiyuki never took off his jumper, no matter how hot it got. Sylvia Bettoni was awesome. her grandma used to look after me until my mum finished work. their backyard was all concrete. Her dad was Santa at christmas.

this is important! -- toward the end of 5th grade, someone smeared doo-doo on the boys' bathroom wall, spelling out some sort of message iirc. ...whereupon the school principal* corralled my class into one room, explained the very serious situation (using the head-scratching word "feces") and invited us to come forward if we knew who the culprit was. the general gossip held j3ff j0hnson responsible for the act, but I'm not sure if he was ever punished. the fact that j3ff was the only black kid in a school of 300+ may or may not be relevant.
*this was the same principal who called ann3 r0dziew1cz a sp1c, according to k@trina r0se. I believed it at the time, but I now have my doubts. don't worry tho, my school wasn't anywhere near as much of a racial battlefield as my cherry-picked stories would lead you to believe.

Things I can recall from that long ago if I try hard enough:
- a teacher in the playground telling me if I didnt eat my sandwich crusts, I'd never get curly hair. I hated curly hair, so I threw them away - good one teech that went well.- eating a meat pie and then puking about an hour later on the way home from school. I dont think I ate a meat pie again for about 15 years.- having to stay indoors during lunch a lot because I'd been in hostpital with ear operations and wasn't allowed to get too cold.
People I vaguely remember only by assuming they were still there in grades 2-3-4:
- Raimah and Tanya who used to come over to my house, we'd all make up songs and commercials into a tape recorder.- a blonde cheeky guy I think called Michael who had an awesome wristwatch with a leather cover/lid over its face and liked doing tricks jumping off fences to impress me- Ashley, who I remember because he told me off one day for wearing a tie to school. "girls don't wear TIES, only BOYS do! You're WEIRD!". (this despite the girls uniform having a tie...)- someone who brought their tonsils or appendix to school in a jar and showed it to everyone.- Jackie, who wasnt in my year but was a family friend and in the year above me, bit of a roughhouse tomboy, I rememver her once sitting on her poor dog and riding it around the backyard.

alissa's mom played the clown lady in the nutcracker. she had stilts!
in 3rd grade or so, i was at her house. it was a nice day, and she said 'let's open the windows!' and i was like 'ok!' so i started opening this window and it sort of came off the track or something odd and scratched my hand. apparently by 'open the windows' she meant 'open the shades' (why didn't she just say this?) and the window was fuxored and her dad ended up on a ladder fixing it from the outside. oops. i don't think we really hung out after that.

Mrs. Virginia Ritzema - I was prone to daydreaming (still am), so she often embarrassed me in front of the class by intoning "Earth calling Stephen.." A nice lady all around, though.
Chris Fruechtenicht - my best friend at the time & for some time afterward; still all-time top 5; we keep in touch
Nathan Munro - another close friend who I am still in contact with, though he was kind of a dick in first grade
Ben Jones - another long-time friend who just resurfaced on my radar (via Facebook) after dropping out of society for about ten years into a super-creepy Christian cult type thing & speaking in tongues and shit.
Amber Hiram - I had a major crush on her back then. I used to write her anonymous love letters with stickers & little plastic trinkets enclosed. I wonder if my mom actually mailed them.
Hillary Shaeffer - I fancied her too, but not as much as I did in 6th grade, when she broke my heart.
Ashley Abbot - the shortest girl in class. Her grandmother lived down the street from me, so we hung out some.
Bethany Van Riper - referred to by the teacher as a "busybody." Was a know-it-all and an advocate of all things prim and proper.
Aaron Dixon - his family were Jehovah's Witnesses & he had to sit by himself in a corner and color during all holiday & birthday-related class celebrations. I felt sorry for him.
Dawn Wernette - Dunno why I remember this broad.
Shawn Fee - a tiny kid with a Napolean complex. I probably wouldn't remember him, except for that I had one of his wallet size class photos for some reason, which I taped to my wastebasket b/c I didn't like him. I had the same wastebasket with his picture on it throughout my childhood.
