what are the best types of threads to lead a flock of long-winded ilxors into, which will render other threads quieter?

try ILM threads with "Steely Dan" in the title...

what threads are you trying to quiet?

incomprehensible Kool-Aid swallower (sarahel), Thursday, 9 July 2009 21:16 (sixteen years ago)

this is more of a general question than a pressing need. also, this might be a good place where we can to link to threads that fit this description.

enbba champions (omar little), Thursday, 9 July 2009 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

haha

some things really take off, not sure exactly why. threads where people can complain about vague straw men type people... or about dating... etc

Someone persistently getting your name wrong

Then, it dawned on me: "I HAVE BEEN PLAYED!" (omar little), Monday, 13 July 2009 20:53 (sixteen years ago)

hahahah

you know this one guy would always add an "s" to the end of my name. i couldn't tell if he was joking! so one day i had to fabricate this whole story to tell him, in which i had to say my bf and i's names a bunch of times. to like make sure.

I avoid them too, sarahel, which is how my part in that thread got started!

But not someone who should be dead anyway (Laurel), Monday, 13 July 2009 20:58 (sixteen years ago)

The thing for me is, I sometimes like movies with awful people doing awful things, but there has to be a certain charm or charisma to the awful people. If they're just annoying or douchetards, generally in some attempt to make them "realistic" or sympathetic to someone other than me, then I avoid.

faucet that ass (sarahel), Monday, 13 July 2009 21:03 (sixteen years ago)

Yes, and I find manchildren douchetastic, I think is the simple way of putting that. But it offends everyone who sees likeable qualities of themselves in the manchild/Michael Cera/etc characters.

But not someone who should be dead anyway (Laurel), Monday, 13 July 2009 21:04 (sixteen years ago)

how would you define a manchild, exactly?

no honestly! i don't use the term so i'm curious. are there like age brackets, certain specific qualities, or is it just an adult guy who acts like a kid

I love rainbow cookies (surm), Monday, 13 July 2009 21:08 (sixteen years ago)

like, is michael cera really a man?

thank you, flipper, for nickelback (country matters), Wednesday, 15 July 2009 11:10 (sixteen years ago)

starting with the Michael Jackson threads ... I think I only got as far as the arguments over whether its inappropriate to be calling him out as a child molester and making twenty six year olds jokes.

well I'm married to a limping, crescent-shaped abortion (sarahel), Wednesday, 15 July 2009 11:12 (sixteen years ago)

lol i was expressing it badly, but my (jocular) implication was that this thread is becoming all hoary and labyrinthine, and that an infinite succession of summarisation threads will be required anew, until each itself spirals out of control

never disregard a prophecy made in jest, though...
