Dom, normally I put my Melbourne Cup bet on the day down the pub (with at least three pints) but my current job won't exactly allow me to get down the pub at lunch time, let alone get pissed there. So I had to go to the TAB betting shop the night before.
I was in town this evening after work to run an errand. Namely, drop off this stylish safari suit...

...so I went to the Chinatown TAB. It did not disappoint as it was full of dodgy Chinese guys betting on the trots.
I bet $20 on "Blue Monday". I tried to put down FAC 73 on the betting form but it didn't let me. Why did I pick it? Because I thought it was time I bet on a bit of an outsider for the Cup. It was 40-1 a few days about but it's shortened to 30-1. It's an imported stayer and has done well in Europe. It's a good chance. And I really want to win about $500-600 on the Cup for once so I can brag about it and be really insufferable.
Oh, and I because I'm a Factory indie cunt.
After putting the bet on, I went to the Chinatown Coles to pick up some garlic bread and coke, and it was full of gay guys buying pasta.

I can watch Chinese dudes bet away £10,000 on in-bookmaker roulette tables all day, fwiw

Good as it is, it's no "Denzel's Friend".
I was all wtf at the racing info screens in Mandarin. It was an experience but not as good as my student days (like the one Cup Day where I skipped two lectures, went down the pub, gambled on every race, drank many pints of Tooheys Old, collapsed about 7pm).
