Srsly my two roommmates who I have lived with for years asked me to move out.
Because I have been unhappy. And I've been unhappy because they are having guests over all goddamn summer long, and I'm sorry if that's made my grouchy, along with getting dumped & finding out my grandfather's dying, but you're going to kick me out over it? Without ever mentioning the problems to me beforehand? That is so fucked.

SO, anyone in NYC who knows of anything, let me know.

So fucked up. I'd expect some kind of e-mail or sit-down talk about my "unhappiness" or rudeness or hostility or whatever, but before I could even say much abt why I'd been so grouchy lately (out of town guests esp.) they were just all "we want you to leave the apartment."

this is just amazingly and unbelievably immature

I tried to tell explain that if they'd be willing to compromise on some issues that it would be possible for me to be much happier, friendlier and a better person to live with but they had no interest in exploring that idea.

so unfuckingbelievably pissed. the cost of moving alone is prob more than i can handle, much less the excruciating search for a place that is a) not miserable and b) affordable.

did you put down any sort of security deposit? i.e. do they owe you money for kicking you out/taking you off the lease?

i did pay security when i moved in but that was like 5 yrs ago and i have no doubt that my landlord will try to fuck me out of it.

No, but if your roommates have taken you off the lease and are evicting you, then they should return your security deposit.

call 311 theyll connect you to the housing people - im suspect yr landlord/roommates violated the law by not offering you the option to renew the lease - you might be in a position to negotiate something thatll make yr move to a new place much easier

yeah, i'm kind of freaking out abt it honestly cuz if i do stay, the longer i stay, the more unbearable and uncomfortable it's going to become.

yeah def check that out - i had some minor beef w/my landlord abt lease renewal and was fascinated to find out abt all the wonderful laws on the books out there

yeah, it's really up to you how much stress you want to deal with w/roommates in this regard. Totally understand if it's too much grief, but they should be paying you something, and that would presumably make having to move less stressful.

or just negotiate for like 3 months free rent so u can save up some $$ to move

yeah i don't know wtf happened here. one minute laura is telling me she talked to the landlord and they're not gonna raise the rent, and next thing i know i'm not on the lease and it's already been renewed.

a bitchfest is what happened here.

man what a shitty situation. over here all parties need to sign off on changes to a rental agreement, possibly to avoid situations like this i'd assume! as much as it'll be a pain to move i'd say you'd be better off away from a couple of schemers like that, ian.

This is FUCKED. I have liked all of yr roommates and thought they were your FRIENDS and wouldn't do anything like this. So confusing, and so shitty. I hate to say it, but it makes me wonder if they have someone else lined up. Not that that would be the reason for bringing up yr unhappiness, but maybe it's the reason for them not being willing to discuss further. Definitely pursue some help/legal options here.

How much notice are they giving you? Last time I got two months' notice and managed to be out in 1, which was good. But yeah, the atmosphere was pretty unpleasant for that time.

right place/right time, hoos-- my co-workers gf just moved out of this room, and another of the roommates is a friend of some local ILXors. if this fell through it would have been WAY harder. moving in NYC is this complicated process involving credit checks, references, interviews & bank statements.

btw i am chillin in my new back yard right now with some beer & weed & i can get the wifi signal from the house--sick.

oh MAN.... he was hiding this morning when i got up and i couldn't find him for approx two hours; i was freaking out. walking around the block, yelling his name in the back yard, shaking a bowl of food etc. so i come back in from the backyard like 10 minutes before i have to go to work, and he is just sitting on my bed like "what up dude?" i think he must have found a really good basement hiding place. the dog scares him & makes him agitated, but when i am home he usually hangs with me in my room.

hope you guys come on over, it should be fun. r0ss warned me that when our other roommate throws a party it tends to involve a lot of people who don't know anyone living here, and that he (r0ss) generally hangs out for a few hours then flees til 2 or 3 am. so, it could go either way. i'm generally not a fan of huge house parties at my own home, but since this is a good occasion imo and it would be nice to see everyone, i am totally thinking it will rule.

i'll have a jug of cheap whisky. and maybe some cheeze doodles.
