jergïns, Saturday, 10 November 2007 08:01 (eighteen years ago)

fail

El Tomboto, Saturday, 10 November 2007 08:48 (eighteen years ago)

what does 'fail' mean, it is not part of my vocabulary.

in portland i remember:
airport
freeway
sleet
the river
a woman who, when introduced to me, said, IT SURE IS NICE TO MEET SOMEONE FROM SO FAR AWAY!! DO. YOU. SPEEAK. ENG-LISH?
her scathing husband
7-11
some platitudes
sorry that is not much, i was just passing through, it was a long time ago.

estela, Saturday, 10 November 2007 22:16 (eighteen years ago)

OMG estela that number 11 is a volatile one

Abbott, Sunday, 11 November 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

i don't want any questions about music or sports. if i don't like a question, or it is in either of the above categories, the answer is "no".

grady: estela, do you like the strokes' debut album, "is this it?"

"no"

kbp:

5. Do you think KFC can be toppled in the all-important "Australian Cricket Team Players Endorsing Fast-Food Chains" wars?

"no"

6. Is the dude from Bloc Party really just a Black & White Minstrel for our times?

"no"

7. What do you think of the BUTTEZSPHERE?

the devil finds work for idle hands

8. Peter Overton, Renaissance Man?

"no"

9. Why can't Santa Claus say "ho ho ho" now and are you in any shape or form responsible for this?

can't he really? i had nothing to with it but it’s a good ban, most santas are leering old boozers with raspberry noses who spend the rest of the year laughing at double entendres at the rsl and making qualitative judgements about girls who don't "want" anything "for christmas" from them.

10. Surf or Turf? Or BOTH?

surf

sunny:

11. my opinion of 11 applied to dates/times is not too high, 11/11 is when i realise i missed my brother's birthday again and when i see 11.11 on a clock i am usually rushing to get to where i was supposed to be at 11.00, but i like 11 when it is you asking me a question <3

12. even numbers are not shiny but they're not really humble either, they seem a bit smug. odd numbers are thin and awkward, i prefer them.

chaks, y <3

13: Unlucky for some?

ned, yes, everything is unlucky for some, the unfortunate ones.

estela, Thursday, 15 November 2007 05:49 (eighteen years ago)

14. Karl Stefanovic: The REAL Man-Machine?

esteban "no"

(& you can add 'australian network breakfast television presenters' to the don't-ask list.)

15. Is $110 a good price for an air hockey table?

it sounds like a good price to me!

16. Should I feel uncomfortable when buying condoms? Because I did tonight. It was at Coles, mind you, but fucked if I was taking a detour to the chemist or whatever for frangers. But it was awkward. You feel like a child molester or worse, like Louis Jagger. But am I justified in those feelings?

i don't know about any of that guddle but i do think you chose the right vendor; coles is a very popular supermarket, with a high stock turnover, so you are liable to get the longest possible expiry window on any purchases.

17. What is your favourite catchphrase of the popular entertainer, "The Rock"?

"no"

estela, Thursday, 15 November 2007 05:52 (eighteen years ago)

18. have you worked with children before?

jergins, no.

the following question,

19. Jergins or JERKins?

makes me wonder if your question was a dig at esteban, or if esteban is paranoid, but i have chosen to answer both questions at face value.

esteban: jergins thanks, i'd hoped it would go without saying that i would prefer a likeable ilx poster to a mead stained rennaissance faire costume.

estela, Thursday, 15 November 2007 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

20. can you recommend a novel or two for me to read? <3

omar, if you haven't read her i think you would enjoy muriel spark, i love her. i recommend 'the prime of miss jean brodie' and i also very much like 'the ballad of peckham rye', 'the bachelors,' 'the girls of slender means,' and 'memento mori'. she has quite a few others i haven't read yet, i don't want to read them all too close together and run out, so i read about one a year <3

it is cute but that's all, let's not give it airs.

estela, Thursday, 15 November 2007 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

24. Estl, Have you been inside a Dan Murphy's bottle-o?
25. They're really good, no?

i have been inside a dan murphy's, some pretty terrible dental work/ broken capillaries among the patrons i thought, also, some poorly executed double entendres at the cash register. but the stores are cheap and cheerful, what more could you want from a bottle shop? i don't drink anymore though so i don't go to bottle shops much, and when i do i feel a bit shifty.

estela, Thursday, 15 November 2007 22:46 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, I went into one two times the other night and I think the employees thought i was a psycho/alco/psycho-alco.

But, indeed, one cannot argue with their prices.

Also, they have v cheap cleanskins!

W4LTER, Thursday, 15 November 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

a true alcoholic would go to two different dan murphy's to avoid suspicion. i know someone who, when she was still drinking, bought a nurse's uniform so she could wear it to the bottle shop early in the morning and pretend she was coming off a night shift.

estela, Thursday, 15 November 2007 23:08 (eighteen years ago)

abbott don't let crepes get you down, they are not worth it <3

estela, Thursday, 15 November 2007 23:15 (eighteen years ago)

21. what kind of dog do you have and what is his name?

he is a bichon/maltese called harry, he is completely adorable, everyone says so not just us.

22. do you have any other animals that live with you?

hopefully not but we live in queensland so who knows what's up in the roof. i would like a cat but harry is a bit rotin around cats.

dear drugs a. money,

i am a bit skeptical.

hey estela,

how are you? immediately & in a more general sense. also what movies are you looking forward to seeing?

Dear Estela,

Do breweries smell bad? I never realized cereal factory smelled so bad until I worked near one. I guess I'm really asking why does delicious smell so bad before it is delicious?

i decided to wait until it was november to answer these and then a great laziness took me over.

so anyway:

dear max,

jergins, Thursday, 13 November 2008 05:08 (seventeen years ago)

dear katarina,

i have a very poor sense of smell so i don't know much about this. we can ask wilter in a week or so for his thoughts. i do know that saying someone 'reeks like a brewery' is generally intended to insult or reprove them so i will never forgive vanessa for that.

<3e

estela, Thursday, 13 November 2008 05:40 (seventeen years ago)

Dear E & SS,

I have walked past this particular brewery many times, I don't think it smells bad?

FYI tho, I do know that starch factories stink a lot.

Do breweries smell bad? I never realized cereal factory smelled so bad until I worked near one. I guess I'm really asking why does delicious smell so bad before it is delicious?

^It turns out at night time you can smell it ever so slightly, but it's not horrible, i guess it's hops or some shit i can smell.

wilter, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 02:15 (seventeen years ago)

I grew up about 1/4 mile from the Carlsberg factory, and it doesn't smell "bad" just... like wet stale beer, really. Like you smell in the immediate aftermath of someone spilling their pint over your head in a moshpit.

The boy with the Arab money (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 02:18 (seventeen years ago)

I was stationed not far from some industrial meat processing and packing operations in texas for five months and I swear every morning we woke up to a completely different stench and they were all equivalently horrid

it did not help that pretty much every day the military fire school on base would put their trainees through an exercise involving dousing a dummy cargo airframe in fuel and setting it ablaze

'bichon buzz' is a pretty terrible term for it though isn't it.

estela, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 11:42 (sixteen years ago)

My dog will totally do this and I didn’t even know it was a thing until recently. the video of that dog in the link is otm.
