dear grady guess what,

i read your sandwich aloud to my poor husband who is working on thanksgiving while all the rest of his family are hanging out together in l.a. and he looked so pathetically crestfallen and wistful and starving i went straight out and bought a turkey. we are going to cook it tomorrow (saturday) and i am going to bake some pies and some of our friends are coming over to eat it all. hopefully while we're eating we'll get a new government:D

guys i went to make a leftover sandwich today and the only bread i had was moldy!!! i was so focused on making sure i had all the proper leftovers that i forgot to make sure i had a decent loaf of bread.

leftover sandwich will have to wait till tomorrow. and sunday.

also, estela, my dog did get to eat some turkey yesterday. i am a veg. and since there is rarely meat around my place she was v. v. happy about it. i think the tryptophan is still in her system.

my turkeyfed dog is lying by the window using his piglet as a pillow, i saw him give piglet a dainty kiss just before he fell asleep, so ridiculous.
we had three little dogs here last night for thanksgiving dinner, they were all very good except there was a small fight over a rawhide stick that was a bit rotten.
we got the new government we wanted!

i didnt have turkey on my thanksgiving but this cafe near my house made reallllly good "pilgrim" sandwiches (as these are called where i come from) and fuck if they arent basically the best sandwiches in the whole goddamn world

what's in them?

the essential components are turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce

and usually a little bit of gravy

no it was clear, i just wanted a precise ingredients list. they sound delicious. and i have all those ingredients here plus some delicious little semi-sourdough rolls.

most people add other stuff too--usually normal sandwich stuff like mayo, cheese, lettuce,etc. works well with this

i like a dab of mayo and a little gruyere swiss plus some kinds of greens

i am going to have a sandwich with lettuce, cranberry, turkey, stuffing, swiss cheese, plus a side of leftover mashed potato and gravy.

Srsly, y'all gotta try this with just a slight spread of sweet potatoes on the bread!

i don't have any, otherwise i would.

i had them with the homemade whole cranberry sauce last night and earlier today but next i will switch it up and use the jellied stuff.

Looking forward to this so much.

i scored some turkey and also an entire loaf of carrot cake but it was a bit inconvenient to transport leftovers as we did not have proper containerage so if i want this sandwich imma have to make some potatoes here or something.

i ate this shit, and then later, we re-ran the entire meal (more or less.) mmmm.

i just ate two of these.

i had pumpkin pie for breakfast.

had pumpkin cheesecake 4 bfast [i made it from scratch 8-)]

had the ILLEST sandwich yesterday.. who knew the mayo and cranberry sauce could make such a radical combination... that being said... my brother and his friends got stoned the night of thanksgiving... AND FINISHED ALL OF THE LEFTOVER STUFFING... AND THE PUMPKIN PIE... assholes... i still had a good sandwich

i did get some stuffing but andrew kohler ate it, but mom said she had a bunch and could bring both of us some iirc? your pie is safe. max, i am glad you got to enjoy your sandwich before the vultures got in there, and that you enjoyed it properly with mayo and CB sauce. also, m bison -- truly awesome!

roxy, not one person offered me a lift to an American thanksgiving! The one we had in October had so many people I didn't get any leftovers, boo. Turkey & cranberry sauce sandwiches = the best.

Damn this thread in the nicest way, I didn't have trad turkey yesterday and I have no leftovers and will have to make it all.

There's a whole apple pie for breakfast though.

i made gumbo for four and it was enough to get three extra meals out of today (for three different people, incl me!)
plus leftover rolls and tons of pie

didn't cook anything broadly trad this year, only personally trad and it was the best thanksgiving decision i've ever made!
