OMG I was totally about to post a Zelda pic too! But I was trying to find one of that awesome little lake hidden in a forest behind a cliff, in Twilight Princess. Cant find a nice pic of it.

i guess its safe to say im feeling emotional today cause the 1-2 punch of that house with trees on top and the forest temple, my favorite video game level of all time, just put an actual tear in my eye. lol

― dark link (roxymuzak), Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:41 (fifteen years ago)

How shallow must those roots be on that house?

― peacocks, Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:42 (fifteen years ago)

I love forest temple in occarina and in windwaker too. The deku tree. All those wooden tinkly noises. I wanna live there.

― Stargazey Pi (Trayce), Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:44 (fifteen years ago)

if those are 6' frasier firs they could be relying mainly on a shallow lateral root system - maybe a taproot through the roof, if the house is full of soil?

― dark link (roxymuzak), Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:49 (fifteen years ago)

Carraba's restaraunts all have roof-fulls of trees, too.
i have never understood how it works.
sorry to post a chain pasta place on this pretty thread...

I asked the right person!

― peacocks, Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

those have gotta be italian cypress

― dark link (roxymuzak), Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

I'm a biologist and should have answered for myself ;_;

― peacocks, Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

which is bizarre bc they have a very deep root system usually, but that's for drought tolerance, so maybe they don't grow as deep when it's not necessary

― dark link (roxymuzak), Sunday, 23 January 2011 23:59 (fifteen years ago)

i bet they are attached to the wall behind them tbh and kept alive w/ nutrient rich soil and constant watering in containers
