― mookieproof, Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:38 (thirteen years ago)
i'm not super short or anything but i'm still short idk, recently i've started to find myself feeling inadequate for having to look up to ppl sometimes to talk
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:41 (thirteen years ago)

5'8 isn't that bad
― iatee, Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:45 (thirteen years ago)
There is a lady at my work who is probably not even 5 feet. She wears big shoes and is still so little. I feel weird whenever we talk standing up. It's awkward. 90% of the time I am happy not to be short but sometimes, esp after hanging with little ladies, I feel gigantic and wish I were small. Only sometimes tho.
― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:46 (thirteen years ago)

― \(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Saturday, 18 June 2011 02:47 (thirteen years ago)

I don't. But I'm 5' 7" and don't think I could ever date a girl taller than 5' 4" or so.
― naus, Saturday, 18 June 2011 06:07 (thirteen years ago)
I'm 5'6", and I have the legs of someone a foot shorter. (There's bigger problems there than just aesthetic--I have to crawl down a number of things that I should be able to step down from.)
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Saturday, 18 June 2011 06:21 (thirteen years ago)
i'm 5'8" but my posture is such crap people take me for like 5'4" which it's kinda shitty for a short person to be thought of as much shorter than they are! like c'mon guys, i made it all the way to 5'8", give me the credit jeez.

From my observations during my time as a corporate whore, I have concluded that women in senior corporate management are disproportionately:
--super tall--super smart--super mean
or some combination thereof. I must have gotten by on just the first. Getting shorter, though--last measurement clocked in at 5'10'', so I don't think I can get away with saying I am "just under 6 feet" anymore.

A couple of months ago, I was at a party with the current Object Of My Obsessions, and although I studiously avoided him all evening, I found I had to walk past him to leave. So of course, as I did, I kinda checked him out a bit. And as I was creepily studying him, I was thinking to myself "y'know, he's not as short as I was lead to believe; his head is nearly level with mine." Then I almost tripped over something, looked down and realised he was standing on a step above me.
Still almost unspeakably hott, though.

i'm the same height and feel v. average. walking to the subway there was this group of cologned football coach looking dudes who were all really tall; made me feel short and also wonder if they choose their friends according to height. all of them must've been around 6'2"
― clouds, Monday, 8 September 2014 00:43 (ten years ago)

― nakh is the wintour of our diss content (darraghmac), Monday, 8 September 2014 01:13 (ten years ago)
Nakh, it has to do with the fact that if you take women into account, 5'10" is taller than like 70% of people. If you take children and the elderly, the number jumps even higher. Also I'm the tallest person in my immediate family by a significant margin
― Treeship, Monday, 8 September 2014 03:02 (ten years ago)
alright. that makes sense. introducing children into the equation really shifts the whole conceptual paradigm in a way i didn't anticipate. still think there might be ideology involved somewhere though.

Same height, but I rarely feel like a particularly tall person. This is probably half down to proportions and half down to terrible posture.
― monoprix à dimanche (dog latin), Monday, 8 September 2014 15:01 (ten years ago)
i went to the store today and the fancy soda i wanted and went specifically to this store to get was on the top shelf so far up that i couldn't have reached it even if i jumped. and jumping/grabbing the soda was not an option. there was nowhere to climb either. i was standing there staring at it wondering what to do when a tall person walked around the corner into the aisle and i asked for help.
this is what being a short person is likeit wasn't a big deal, but i did need to go out of my way to ask for help

Haha, aaawww, LL. I am the kind of person that people always ask for help reaching stuff in the supermarket. (And, OK, yes, I usually volunteer if I see little old ladies staring in a pining manner at tins on the top shelf.)
I occasionally hang out with these two Scottish girls who are both about 6'. It makes me feel short, which is kind of funny.
