Vintage Latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 12:49 (nineteen years ago)

wogan, how would you feel if ike turner had his hair partially shaved at your house later on???

Captain Diko (honesttoafault), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 14:01 (nineteen years ago)

partially... shaved?

Vintage Latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 14:32 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, like in a mullet styling. steven will be the stylist, and killer-Ike will be willing subject!

Matthew Dicks (honesttoafault), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

so... you're getting 1 mullet. 80s guy!

Vintage Latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

now lets clarify, the mullet originated in the 70's, although it might well have achieved its greatest/worst moments in the 80's!

and its more to do with the whole redneck thing, and the fact i've always loved them, plus i've not got long before i have no hair at all thanks to the god of baldness who i have angered greatly!!!

its now or never!!!

Matthew Dicks (honesttoafault), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 15:43 (nineteen years ago)

fair dos. i don't think i've ever seen a mullet in the 70s.

fun fact that quite a lot of people already know: they weren't even called "mullets" back in the 80s anyway. the term was invented by the beastie boys' very own grand royal magazine back in the mid-90s.

Vintage Latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

well the mullet as a hairstyle was only recognized on mass in the 80's but as a hairstyle rednecks have worn them for decades without any recognition!

and i did not know beastie boys invented the word, thats fucking mental. i'd love to invent a word. in fact, thats exactly what i'm gonna do!

Matthew Dicks (honesttoafault), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

whassit gonna be?

fun fact number two: "quiz" is a completely made up word that came to fruition after a bet that someone couldn't make up a made up word and stop it being made up.

are you sure the mullet wasn't just adopted by rednecks and they forgot to replace their barber?

Vintage Latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 16:55 (nineteen years ago)

because if not then rednecks would have been ahead of the fashion curb in the 70s, and somehow I'm not so sure the 80s had such a high "trickle up" factor as it does now i.e. where it's cool to look poor.
