Eddie Guerrero passes away

WWE is deeply saddened by the news that Eddie Guerrero has passed away. He was found dead this morning in his hotel room in Minneapolis. Eddie is survived by his wife Vickie and daughters Shaul, 14, Sherilyn, 9, and Kaylie Marie, 3.

from about 1999 on, he was my favorite wrestler.

I saw a banner on a message board somewhere today that said Eddie Guerrero - 19?? to 2005 and I thought, someone's got an obscure grudge against (or for) him.

That is a crying shame. Channel surfing and seeing something with him and Kurt Angle is the reason I started watching wrestling again.

I remember watching a judgement day on dvd with a friend and realizing that there was nothing he couldn't do. He had personality, presence, speed, and an ability to make you believe what you were seeing. Wresteling will never be the same again.

I caught some of Live Audio Wrestling last night, and of course the entire show was a tribute to Eddy. One indy guy called in and said he'd worked on the same show as Eddy in early 2002. Normally, he said, you wouldn't see a star of his calibre backstage until it was time for his match. But Eddy didn't do that -- he hung around backstage for hours, talking with all the workers, talking to the agents, giving advice to younger wrestlers, and going out of his way to be sociable to everybody.

They also interviewed Shane Douglas, and I'm not really sure why. Douglas took the oppurtunity to rip the wrestling business and its breakneck schedules (but didn't blame anybody in particular).

He's alive. I saw him at a Dunkin' Donuts in Wisconsin last week. He'll be making a run-in during the main event of Wrestlemania 23 and this will lead to a feud with the Undertaker over the rights to be called "The Dead Man of the WWE". Naturally, this will lead to a casket match at Summerslam 2007. Eddie will win and set the casket on fire, killing the Undertaker forever but of course he will rise from the dead at Royal Rumble 2008 and cost Eddie the World Championship. Then he'll challenge Eddie to a Buried Alive match at Wrestlemania 24. Taker will win the match to make him 16-0 at Wrestlemania and Eddie will be buried forever. Then he will really be dead.
