I don't think Styles is a failure, but the neutered version ain't working. The thing is, his approach works in a "c'mon, it's wrestling for fuck's sake" way. Tazz and Cole have the ESPN vibe. I prefer these two approaches because, well, WWE is pretty shit right now so no sense in faking the emotion. Would JR make Cena's weekly beatdown more dramatic? Sure. But bottom line, the shit is weak and overselling it just tells me that I'm an idiot who will drink weak shit.
Anyway, I don't buy the "JR makes bad angles sound exciting" defense, mainly because bad angles still insult my intelligence and I don't need to trick myself into liking them.
