Matt Classic, being as it is Colt Cobana in a mask working a 1950s heel gimmick, seems to be close to perfection.

Still, this looks interesting. I'm kinda glad that Vampiro is getting more attention, i just hope he cleaned up some.

Matt Classic vs Samoa Joe would be fun.

"I got your nose"... ha!

OK I've been living under a rock, so I'm just catching up on what WSX is all about. Is this gonna really be worth it, or were you just joking with the thread title?

Nope, MTV have set up their own wrestling promotion. It's mainly guys from the CZW area circuits, with Waltman and Vampiro bringing the star components and Cabana bringing the "best wrestler outside the big two" talents. All the matches take place in a faux warehouse style thing, bands play through the show (Black Label Society, Clipse, Three 6 Mafia, and Sparta are all signed up to play so far), and it's basically XCW for the PATD generation.

Seriously, I can't wait to see it.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)

How many episodes are they scheduled for? Are they going to pull off angles, or just start off with a buncha bad-ass matches

Ten episodes in the first season, rumour going round is that the contracts tie the roster into only one fed with national TV coverage (ie, no WWE or TNA) for two years.

Musical guest line-up:

* Black Label Society (January 30, 2007)
* Three 6 Mafia (February 6, 2007)
* Sparta (February 13, 2007)
* Clipse (February 20, 2007)
* Jibbs (February 27, 2007)
* Good Charlotte (March 6, 2007)
* Quietdrive (March 13, 2007)
* Pitbull (March 20, 2007)
* Styles P (March 27, 2007)

A friend of mine interviewed to try to get an onscreen role at this thing. Got kinda far but didnt make the final cut because of lack of broadcasting experience. However, he did go to the first set of tapings and can most likely be seen on camera making an ass of himself. He didnt say anything too awesome about the matches tho. Guess he got distracted by all the douchey kids they recruited for the audience.

I only half-watched the first ep. Seemed ok. There was a battle royale/ladder match thing to determine who fights in the up for grabs title match. 6-Pac and Vampiro won, obv.

New Jack was also in the battle and Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde was a commentator. If I recognized anyone else I forgot already.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Sunday, 28 January 2007 00:17 (eighteen years ago)

Ha, I forgot Justin Credible.

Saw it again from the beginning, and they showed Black Label Society performing at the start (for like a minute) so maybe the musical guest will also be a guest commentator every time. The Three 6 Mafia one should be fun.

Zakk Wylde did show up at the 99 summerslam, if i remember, in a cameo

kingfish moose tracks (kingfish 2.0), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 19:37 (eighteen years ago)

It took a 1.0 for its season premier official. This means that it's already overtaken TNA as America's second biggest wrestling organisation. Owned, right?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 February 2007 00:05 (eighteen years ago)

this any good?

kingfish moose tracks (kingfish 2.0), Thursday, 1 February 2007 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

Watching this PROPERLY: Valentina/Lizzy Valentine has to be the best valet in wrestling right now.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 February 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)

It's still the same episode, right? The "premier" on Tuesday was the same one MTV showed all last weekend?

Marmot (marmotwolof), Thursday, 1 February 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah. MTV are running "soft" premieres of this show throughout the run.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 February 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)

So Vampiro is your WSX Champ.

Three 6 Mafia hardly said anything dammit, I think Paul said like 10 words the entire episode and J didn't say nothing.

I thought That 70s Team was stupid but I liked Team Dragon Gate. Human Tornado had some moves, too.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Thursday, 8 February 2007 22:08 (eighteen years ago)

shit, i need to torrent this

four months pass...

MTV sure botched the hell out of this, eh? I only saw the first 3 eps., and I didn't even know the rest of the episodes had been dumped into a marathon until I read this:

The fourth episode of the series was pulled by MTV after a spot featuring Ricky Banderas throwing a fireball at Vampiro was deemed unairable by the network. The episode aired in edited form on February 27, 2007. Houston Curtis of Big Vision Entertainment announced on March 2, 2007 that Wrestling Society X had been pulled from MTV. However, a marathon of five new episodes aired on March 13, 2007. The season finale has yet to air, and was quietly removed from it's scheduled slot on March 20 on MTV. MTV would later announce that they took the marathon as the season finale, and the 10th episode would not air. As of June 2007 WSX's future is still uncertain.
