Why have WWE signed a man who has shown a grand total of dick-all potential in the past five years to a decent sized contract and given him a decent push?

A big push, beating Cena and landing the US title in his debut appearance. I couldn't quite see why they rate him so highly on the basis of that. It's a decent gimmick, I guess, but it will get tired quickly, I expect.
