Inoki vs Ali isn't part of the canon at all. Most people admit it was just Inoki kicking Ali's shins for half an hour with no actual punches being landed.

But Inoki vs Ali was a MASSIVE cultural touchstone, and is still one of the best known matches ever in Japan. Andre vs Hogan was a shit match also.
