Oh I guess I'll make that again

I'm going to a picnic tomorrow and I've made snickerdoodles, which is what I've made for most of the last several events I've gone to. They're pretty easy to make, somewhat unexpected, and pretty dang good. And, of course, I'm totally sick of them.

What do you always make, and do you ever want to eat it again? Or are there things you used to always make, but burned out on? Do tell!

I went through a baklava phase that lasted about 5 years. The recipe in Bernard Clayton's Pastry Sweet and Savory has many steps, but is more a matter of assembly than complicated technique. I made it for every family get-together (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas typically). Then, people started ordering it from me for parties and such, and that got old quick.

Now, I make brownies and seven-layer bars, and live too far away to attend any family get-togethers :)

Incredibly decadent brownies.
7 Layer bars.

Both are especially good for bake sales too.

The recipe for the snickerdoodles comes from Cooks Illustrated, and perhaps I will scribble it out at some point.

I've got the world's best choclate brownie recipe, and like you, I'm sick and tires of it. It was rich at the best of time - I just can't be bothered eating them now.

two months pass...
So we have a holiday potluck tonight with the usual suspects from the office attitude adjustment group. I'm bringing dessert(s) - the above-mentioned brownies (which I make all the time), pumpkin pudding with maple whipped cream (which I make as often as possible, because it's also great for breakfast), and a pint of blackberry sorbet I made this summer. Next year, I want to get a trifle bowl and bring rich, custardy, alcoholic trifle everywhere.
