Royal rib-eye roast
Yorkshire pudding
Sweet potato croquettes
Creamed onions

Bham's Christmas pudding
Rum balls
Brandy butter

Truly atrocious table wine.

Christmas Eve:

2004 L'Ecole 41 Walla Voila (nice white blend also used to make the risotto)
roast goose
risotto w/ butternut squash
peas in butter sauce
2003 Amavi syrah (after opening and rejecting a 1998 Foile a Deux cab sauv - not corked but thin and lacking)
fruit cake/rum cake/far too many cookies

Christmas day:

party at the restaurant of friends with their extended families - turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, waldorf salad, texas chili, creamed peas 'n onions, an entire room full of desserts. We brought the liquor, so a variety of vodka, bourbon, and dark rum (Myer's natch!) drinks, as well as wine from the restaurant's stock.

Afterwards, at home:

Nasty Hickory Farms beef stick.
Hot chocolate with dark rum

My father told me not to get "all upset and righteous" when I asked if we had wine other than the Ernst Gallo rose.

Well Remy, at least it wasn't Mogen David.

Jaq (Jaq), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 04:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm not going to spend my time checking, but I think Gallo's cheaper oz. for oz than Mogen David.
