And, on days like to-day...

I'm more of bowl of fruit and yoghurt and/or full english man, myself.

At a push I'm quite partial to the odd bowl of cornflakes, though I prefer them as a snack later in the day. Weetabix and Rice Krispies both have their place, too.

When I was a kid, Frosted Flakes.

Now I'm more into Grape-Nuts, which aren't even cornflakes.

if ya haven't had life cereal, that's the one that was usually in my bowl. and kix with a banana is a good way to start the day. now i just eat granola and yogurt or not eat but drink coffee and have a smoke.

I've never really liked cold cereal. I think this harkens back to the time my sister and I got up really early and ate all the marshmallows out of the Lucky Charms. Poured them into the pink plastic mixing bowl, ate all the marshmallows one by one, then poured the cereal bits back into the box. We had to finish that box, sans the good bits, and without sugar, before they would buy any other cereal. And I would never, ever drink the milk that remained in the bowl. Gah.

I went through a brief raisin bran phase once, for a week maybe. But at heart I am a hot cereal person - Malt-o-meal, oatmeal, kashi, that kind of thing.

two weeks pass...
The porridge section in our local supermarket is empty - according to sources it's because of the GI Diet. I love porridge. But at the moment I'm enjoying this...

It's pretty hardcore.

And by 'at the moment' I mean right now - there's nothing like latenight cereal to fuel latenight postings...

Mmm, emo-free Müsli

Øystein (Øystein), Sunday, 2 April 2006 22:00 (nineteen years ago)

I pretty much quit eating cold cereal years ago, but whenever I get the craving, it's Product 19 every time.

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Sunday, 2 April 2006 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

Awesome. I don't know a single other person (in real life) who eats it, or has even heard of it.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 3 April 2006 01:48 (nineteen years ago)

Why is it called Product 19? It's an ultra cool name.

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Monday, 3 April 2006 12:21 (nineteen years ago)

The company line is that it provides 100% daily requirement of 19 vitamins & minerals, but the real reason is that it gives men who eat it a schlong of frightening dimensions. It's not for everybody -- also, that's why they don't have an advertising budget. They sell as much as they can possibly produce just with word of mouth.

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Monday, 3 April 2006 12:32 (nineteen years ago)

And you can buy this where? (It's for a friend...)

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 07:40 (nineteen years ago)

I get mine at the hardware store.

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:11 (nineteen years ago)

hahahah

i stopped eating cereal a very long time ago. something about it makes me want to vomit, although it's probably more the milk than anything else - i detest drinking milk. I keep telling myself i should try it with soy milk, but never do.

my favorites are/were capn crunch, corn pops, grape nuts, and anything like Meusli.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this stuff at the moment, but by gum, it's hard work:

I saw that in Sainsbury's and was totally swayed by the packaging which is very nice. They have a 50p-off voucher deal on the website so I might try that next week.

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 07:31 (nineteen years ago)

My cereal of choice is those hoary, plain Corn Flakes.
I'm curious if the same weird price thing goes on with corn flakes in other parts of the world... Here in Norway a package of 750g. of Corn Flakes costs almost the same as a smaller one that contains 375g.
It makes very little sense to me.

I know some products are marked way down in stores because they've found that they're commonly used in price comparison tests, so perhaps that's the reason.
It's a pretty boring cereal, but then I suppose they all are, barring perhaps the ones that have all sorts of fruit[-ish things] mixed in.

Øystein (Øystein), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

I had a small bowl just now and it's lovely, plenty of fruit - which I like. and yes, the packaging is gorgeous.
