whoa dude i can't believe no one has posted on this thread yet. i always make bbq sauce and i never make it right and i like it that way. i don't know anything about memphis-style nor anything else. anyways obviously it's tomato based and must have spicy and sweet like molasses or honey or brown sugar and i think garlic is necessary. other than that it is all up to you. some variations i have done are using a fruity vinegar, lime juice and zest, carmelizing alot of onions. i have found that a good rub and bbq sauce combo is the best way to go for good bbq.
