Kitchen Items That Have Gone Missing

As in "used to be easier to find in stores, but is now MIA."

I'd like to buy some citric acid to put some tartness into things that have had tartness bred out of them, like fruit preserves, but the grocery store don't got it, the Walmarts don't got it, and I go to Tupelo and A C00k's Plac3 don't got it! MORE LIKE A POSING YUPPIE JERKOFF'S PLACE AMIRITE?

Bad enough having to drive 35 miles for cheesecloth, and now this. I ask you!

(Suggestions for where to find citric acid welcome.)

Also, what do you lament the disappearance of?

Get your citric acid and cheesecloth from the internet!

I will have to think about what I'm missing.

Called the drugstore, and the drugstore don't got it. I guess mailorder it is. :(

Kinda irks me to have to pay shipping charges for every little packet of this or that.

Rennet is getting increasingly hard to find. The only place that I know for sure has it is Fortnum & Mason.

My hardware store inexplicably has a canning section with tons o' citric acid. Rennet I find as "Junket" brand rennet tablets housed with the Jello at the grocery store.

I love hardware stores for their bizarre cooking/housewares sections! Also, we have this store here called "Ranch and Home" which is like a hardware/sporting goods/tack shop/cowboy clothes store on steroids - canning supplies, vacuum sealers, every form of cast iron pan imaginable, smokers, and enormous grills!

I can't find Colman's Mustard anymore, either! Jeez!

You mean that yellow powder in a tin?? Man, you really are out of the bounds of civilization! ;)

I swear! Previously commonplace things are just disappearing around here!

I was going to say you could order it online (mustard in a tin)
http://www.colmansmustardshop.com/
But I can't actually find any in a tin there!

Things come and go - a few years ago I couldn't get an olive stoner for no amount of cash - now everywhere... Whereas melon ballers seem to be in short suppy...

two months pass...
Our pizza cutter has gone missing. It was great for cutting egg noodle dough, and now it's gone.
