how old is the kid?

dip-type stuff is good--guac, hummus, salsa, tomato sauce with rice cakes or vegan pita bread. You can make an egg-free breading for fried veggies. Roasted sweet potato wedges.

are there any theories on why so many more kids seem to have food allergies these days? is it just better diagnosis? I'm thinking one could start a nice little catering business specializing in totally non-allergenic kid parties.

In general allergies seem to have gone up although I doubt the dozens and DOZENS of people in my shop claiming they can only stand gold are in fact referring to allergies. I'm more of the idea they don't want cheap junk in their ears. ;-)

Oh shit, it's not only about allergies, Teeny, some foods are harder to digest, hence the reason they want to avoid'em early on. THen again I never EVAH had a problem with yoghurt as a baby. Would eat half a liter as a snack. heh

hi trayce!

(also, there are like 20 kids. but roasted potato wedges are a great bet for today; among other snacks i've done are veganish versions of
corn muffins, banana bread, apple tatin, whole wheat crepes with fudge and fresh orange, oatmeal bars, watermelon tonic, applesauce muffins,
popovers, bread pudding (with no dairy OR milk!), apple crisp, pretzels, etc.…)

sweet potato wedges also rock, they go kind of fudgy

Oh man I had these sort of chunky-cut sweet potato fries once, at a thai place. sooo good.

Veg tempura - you can make a good batter with flour and ice-cold fizzy water.

Rice Krispy treats - puffed rice, marshmallows, margarine, vanilla. Nuke the last three, then stir in the rice, margarine up your hands and form into balls. Also, popcorn.
