substituting qu'est-ce que c'est?

Does anyone know if I can substitute brown rhum with white rhum? I am desperate: Want to make a raisin (soaked in rhum) bread but I don't want to buy brown rhum which I know I'll only use this once (or a couple of times if it turns out delicious duh!).

I think you could. I'd maybe add a pinch of brown sugar or molasses or demerara sugar to the white rum, if I had any around.

Dark rum is really really good though, esp in hot rum drinks!

Well, I have to soak the raisins in the rhum. So might as try.

Use port instead, maybe? Even if it goes wrong, you've still got a bottle of port.

yeah, for what you're doing you could really soak the raisins in any spiced, flavorful spirit: vodka, honey and cinnamon sticks are a standby substitute for me.
