Tomatoes attacked my spatula

Okay, it was stupid to use a brand new white silicone spatula to make the tomato paste. Now it has an orange edge. Is there anything that takes that color out, once it's there?

I just picked this stuff up at the grocery store called Cascade Plastic Booster that supposedly helps with stained plastic (I have the same problem with a mixing bowl I stored chili in), but it's for dishwasher use it turns out, so I don't know if it works. Or if it works on silicone.

I could see cleaning up a mixing bowl, but a spatula? Aren't those supposed to "earn" their orange marks?

Well, I'm having this weird sort of thing about using it for whipped cream or meringue or basically any non-dark non-savory stuff. I should have used the grungy dog-eared one, alas.

Maybe that plastic booster stuff would work if you soaked it. I may have to scare some up.

Here's another plus for silicone - after three rounds through the dishwasher (post tomatoes, post bolognese sauce, post potroast gravy), the orange is magically gone.

So this has nothing to do with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, then.

I got a couple of high-heat spatulas at BB&B a few years ago that avoid that problem -- one's red, one's purple, both have black handles.

I still have that white one - it's not looking too bad 6 years later. But I also got a dark blue one. This may be a year of massive tomato paste production - a family member has 23 plants in his yard, all thriving.

My San Marzanos are starting to come in, but the few I picked today are weirdly light, like they're hollow.
