I bought 4 quails on impulse.

I'm hoping to slow-cook them. What goes well with quail?

Wild rice, or even one of those low-budget Mahatma "saffron" rice packages. Braised cabbage, glazed carrots?

Glazed carrots sounds good, and easy to co-slow-cook.

There are also a good number of indian/pakistani quail recipes. There's a great one in Madhur Jaffrey's Ultimate Curry Bible. There also appear to be some recipes on the internet once you get past all the misspellings of batter (Urdu for Quail is 'bater').

Tandoori quail is all kinds of awesome. Ed, I first had it in the Waterloo Tandoori under the bridge past the Imax and it was astonishing.

Just cracked open the package and was a little surprised @ the prospect of having to defeather the quails a bit! They weren't covered in feathers, but there were a lot of strays.

Anyway, I ended up sticking them breast side down on top of some jazz apples in the crock pot, drizzling with white truffle oil and covering with root vegetables. coated the veg in olive oil and tossed in coarsely chopped garlic and fancy salt. we'll see what happens.
