Macaroni Pie

Cozen was telling me about this Scottish delicacy. It's, apparently, some sort of mac and cheese casserole style dish but cooked in a pot pie type shell. It sounds like a great idea, but I'm having trouble finding a recipe online (there are other types of macaroni pies out there, I guess!). Does anyone have one? A vegetarian recipe would be ideal but I can translate it if need be.

They're a fairly standard Scotch Pie, but without a lid and with macaroni cheese inside (and frequently a slice of tomato on top).

This isn't a bad Scotch Pie recipe: http://www.rampantscotland.com/recipes/blrecipe_scotchpie.htm

In case you're struggling to picture a Scotch Pie, this butchers has a decent selection, including macaroni pies.

I found Venison Scotch Pie in a shop today, and am having that for my tea tonight before I consume large amounts of alcohol.

I guess my question is whether the mac and cheese has egg in it or not, as one might find in certain mac and cheese casseroles, or if it's really just macaroni drenched in cheese, like Kraft Dinner.

I'd be very surprised if it had egg in it. I would quite happily assume it was just macaroni in a cheese sauce if I was you.

My Venison Scotch Pie was very, very rich but very, very nice.
