you went to hs with him? or just generally?

also, i guess related (ppl who went to school with tim) did anyone ever listen to the insert credit podcast way back when he talked about going to college with j*red f*gle? because holy fuck. i think it was a couple years before dude got caught being a creep and tim just talks for 15 minutes about how much of a creep dude was

no i didn't actually go to school with TR, I just mean to say i and most of my friends were luminous cave newts in glasses who would expostulate nonstop with one another in eltingville-style logorrhea-offs about video games and seeing him free verse about kojima gives me the fear that there's a pop quiz in spanish

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 6 August 2019 20:46 (five years ago) link

Happy to listen to him talk though! can just pass on including his face in the story. no offense!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 6 August 2019 20:47 (five years ago) link

i totally get that. there's nothing that throws me into a rage faster than someone who acts like me at some previous stage in my life. it's like FUCK OFF MAN

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 6 August 2019 21:01 (five years ago) link

yep. i have no greater scorn for anything than what i used to be. Looking forward to hating current me in the future.

That was really enjoyable. "In other words, like all video games, Death Stranding is *exactly* like Dark Souls. It should be called 'Tark Souls.'" Extra amusing to me because I've never played any Metal Gear games and only know them from one or two iterations of Smash Brothers, where the guy always reminds me of Snake Eyes from GI Joe, and what few clips I've seen of this one seem the farthest from a sneaky ninja assassin game, so it's hard for me to make a connection between that concept and whatever the hell this game seems to be. So I guess I'm ... excited? Curious? Certainly entertained by the simmering hype.

More people should review games months before they play them.

tim rogers, if you ego surf your way here by google, i live in brooklyn and will happily take you out for ice cream at ice and vice if you want. we can talk about not video games. Or Dark Souls!

All good, tho the Animal Crossing one is less tight and more depressed than most of his stuff. Dude is the most too-smart-for-his-own-good person I know of.

Guess that's me unsubbing from Kotaku's youtube channel then. No loss really as their non-Rogers content is pretty much worthless.

Tim is on the mend from the ‘vid and the patreon is live

HELLO! i have a patreon: one huge, monthly, hour-long, meticulous, unconventional video review of a game i love. i have 37 videos in the planning stages already. https://t.co/JvTEJSALnx

— tim rogers (@108) April 8, 2020

silby, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 19:42 (four years ago) link

sure why not

ciderpress, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 20:02 (four years ago) link

Daddy needs medicine!

silby, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 20:03 (four years ago) link

i googled tim rogers patreon to grab the link, and saw this tweet, which confused me because i forgot we're in 2020 and jsut saw "current month, current year"

(hang on a second: no, i am NOT making a patreon. i get paid a salary, everybody. and no, i am not going to stream "on the weekend." weekends are for walking around manhattan, watching the @criterionchannl, eating pizza, and reading books)

may the force leave us alone (zchyrs), Thursday, 9 April 2020 15:04 (four years ago) link

he's up to $6000 a month, he deserves it all and more!

silby, Thursday, 9 April 2020 15:06 (four years ago) link

whoa, really? i'm not sure i've seen a patreon go that high, wow! he does deserve it. he was the last good thing remaining at kotaku, which he almost singlehandedly kept afloat the last year or so

let me be your friend on the other end! (Karl Malone), Thursday, 9 April 2020 15:08 (four years ago) link

WHY DID YOU LEAVE KOTAKU?

I found myself suddenly surrounded by numerous offers and opportunities to get paid more by doing less work to produce better content, while also reaching a wider audience. Ain't that the dream? Also, I want to be able to focus on our (Action Button Entertainment's) game TRUCK HECK more.

Also, the CEO was an idiot.

as someone who has never played ffvii and has no intention of playing ffvii or the remake this was amazing. only trouble is that i couldn't help reading everything in tim's voice for the rest of the day
