Coming Spring 2015, exclusively for PS4 and PC.http://shoryuken.com/2014/12/06/street-fighter-v-is-coming-exclusive-to-playstation-4-and-pc/Ultra SFIV also getting ported to PS4 sometime next year.

This pretty much guaranteed me buying a PS4 next year, good job Sony
Got any links to a character list?
― the farakhan of gg (DJP), Sunday, 7 December 2014 17:52 (ten years ago)
They've only shown Chun Li and Ryu (using his super art from III) so far
― Nhex, Sunday, 7 December 2014 18:19 (ten years ago)
yeah this and Bloodborne = PS4 for me I think
― Ratt in Mi Kitchen (Neil S), Sunday, 7 December 2014 18:22 (ten years ago)
Not impressed with this so far. Graphics look average. Guard breaks are usually feature cruft. On the plus side, this means SF4 won't be the go-to fighting game for much longer.
― poxy fülvous (abanana), Monday, 8 December 2014 13:30 (ten years ago)
Looks like it doesn't have guard breaks -- Ryu just has some moves that can't be blocked. In the updated trailer, they included a move that was made to look like 3rd Strike parries, but it doesn't seem to actually be a parry. Ono is on a troll.

now i'm no expert but this doesn't look like the most practical outfit for street fighting

pretty practical for the spine breaking T&A shot tho

Mad Catz announced a bunch of new pads and sticks for SFV's release.http://madcatz.com/StreetFighterV/
Kinda messed up considering the Chun Li stick just shipped. Find these all interesting. The TEs don't look too different, just upgraded w/a PS4 touchpad, but the Alpha ministick for $40 and the redesigned Fightpads for $60 =( look good.
I heard the ministick was a direct response to Hori's Fighting Stick Mini which I did not know existed until now and apparently comes out in two weeks.

less than glowing review in the Guardian http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/feb/15/street-fighter-v-review-capcom
― Gaz upon my works ye mighty, and despair (Neil S), Monday, 15 February 2016 20:55 (nine years ago)
oh, they totally deserve the criticisms in that article. single player modes are coming via patch next month, sigh. a little surprised there isn't more of an uproar over that. smart review all told
tbh everyone who buys this day 1 is going to be hopping online almost immediately anyway. even more ready for it than usual because we got multiplayer beta access
― Nhex, Monday, 15 February 2016 22:02 (nine years ago)
Comments? Nhex?
OK so I was thinking about picking this up as it looks so great and I like the single-serving length of a fighting game a lot more than any other type of game I enjoy but I haven't played a fighting game deep since Tekken 3. I am (meekly) asking this question here in hopes I get a straight answer:
Do people use the left joystick or the d-pad for fighting games these days? I mean people who don't use the six-and-stick peripheral. I've been playing the Mortal Kombat games casually and doing ok, but in Mortal Kombat most of the moves are sonic boom type gestures rather than fireball type gestures.
― antexit, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 14:50 (nine years ago)
D-pad is still the way to go for most games. SFV for a bit was actually going to remove all charge moves, but they changed their mind seemingly after the first beta - it's still weird to get used to playing Vega (Claw) as a motion character though
The quality of the D-pad (ugh 360) on the stock controllers could make a difference, as well as which buttons you have to hit simultaneously. Like the MK games did a better job designing for gamepads, since super moves were just "hit both back triggers" or "hold trigger + face button for EX move". SFV still has a handful of 3 punches/3 kicks move activations (like Zangief's lariat, Dhalsim's transport) which I'm really surprised by, since you almost always have to use a trigger/macro button to hit those on a pad
I have some sticks but never fully acclimated back to them since the 90s tbh. Was thinking about getting one of those Mad Catz PS4 sticks coming out for this but ran a bit short on cash, maybe later this year. Went with the Hori Fight Commander 4 instead, uses the Saturn D-pad + 6 face buttons setup that the MC Fightpad did
my copy should be home by the time I get home from work :)

How do you do a Yoga Flame or Zangief's piledriver on a d-pad? Did they change those moves?
― antexit, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 17:46 (nine years ago)
no, they're still the same. yoga flame is just like a longer fireball motion, back, down, forward + punch.zangief piledriver is weird to get ahold of the first time on pad but very doable with practice. also a little easier to do these days as i think it's a 270 motion instead of 360 these days, so can sorta input it with things like back, down, forward, up-forward + punch
― Nhex, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 17:52 (nine years ago)
Oh, so you can input them with separate presses rather than a roll. I remember on the Super Nintendo SFII having to slide the ball of my thumb diagonally up from down to forward which gets painful after awhile.
― antexit, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 18:02 (nine years ago)
i remember attempting the zangief piledriver like 3 trillion times, and all but one of those attempts ended with me jumping straight up in the air
― Karl Malone, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 18:09 (nine years ago)
the successful attempt ended with me yelling "I DID IT!" to no one
― Karl Malone, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 18:10 (nine years ago)

― antexit, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 18:36 (nine years ago)
heh i still gotta watch thatno you do still have to roll the stick/pad for those moves, i was just using shorthand. it's all totally doable on pad! honestly the hardest execution is 1-frame linking which is more about the buttons than the stick
― Nhex, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 18:49 (nine years ago)
i'm probably a little biased though, always took massive churlish pride at being able to hit pad SPDs
― Nhex, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 18:50 (nine years ago)
SFV doesn't have intentionally hard links, everything gives you a 3 frame window. there's still some tricky maneuvers like chun-li doing lightning legs right after she jumps.
standing piledriver was always really hard. you had to do the motion while gief was doing something else. like greenhand or blocking a hit or landing from a jump.

ugh, multiplayer was broken last night. should be ok today.the story/single player modes are incredibly bare as expected. Capcom should be chastised for releasing so little SP content AND having the day 1 server issues, but maybe that was inevitable, seems so many launch games w/required online access have this now
xp in the beta R.Mika was one of a few characters that actually did have some 1-frame link combos, don't know if that made it to the release version though
― Nhex, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:00 (nine years ago)
online's been working for the last day or two which is goodplayed at my local meetup last night, good times.really great to see almost everyone maining different characters. trying out Laura for now. love the early part of the game before everyone's figured out the matchups or the game system in total(a good ryu's still annoying as hell, tho)
― Nhex, Friday, 19 February 2016 14:36 (nine years ago)
I weirdly forgot all about this game, largely because of the co-op bubble I've been in with EZSnappin and jjjusten as well as the demanding children living in my house. I expect I'll be buying this before the end of the month.

Ken is surprisingly good, FANG is just weird as all hell and scary with the right player
― Nhex, Thursday, 25 February 2016 22:55 (nine years ago)
Fang is one of those Zatana types where the designers threw together a bunch of moves that don't work together. His specialty might be in trading down damage, although the trades usually aren't in his favor.
I rank Ken and Cammy low because their V-skills are dumb. Ken's is a little better than a forward dash and Cammy gained nothing.
― remove butt (abanana), Friday, 26 February 2016 00:52 (nine years ago)
i haven't played a good Cammy player yet so I still don't know what her V-skill actually does (lol), but Ken's V-skill lets him cancel out of certain moves, more useful that it initially looks, believe it. his normal/hit confirm game is almost as dangerous as Ryu's
― Nhex, Friday, 26 February 2016 04:11 (nine years ago)
Cammy's is just her spinning backfist.
