How many goombas have you slayed in your lifetime?

I have a little over 11,000 days. I didn't slay any goombas until I was 4 or 5. then for 10 years I probably slayed, on average, maybe 100 goombas a day? that's probably overestimating it. it's hard to guess. but i'm going with 100,000-999,999 goombas

There are 16 goombas in level one of SMB alone. (Amazingly nobody seems to have done a goomba count in any one SMB game.) Goombas are in most levels of most Mario games besides flight/water levels. iirc there are bonus levels in New SMB where you squish in excess of 75 goombas in 60 second. I think 100 goombas per day is low. I'm going to guess that it averages out to around 6-7 goombas per minute of gameplay across all Mario games. It might even be higher than that.

Used to go to Donut Plains 4 and grab a star and just run through goombas, and do this over and over again.

Really cool article on SMB, how the levels were coded in to save space, and how those workarounds resulted in the -1 world being randomly generated. Apparently you can hack 256 alternate levels on a Famicom with a cart swapping trick.
