Since the pandemic and getting back into gaming, it's been fun watching the Game Awards. Usually the noms are pretty spot on, and this year is no exception. If anything, there were so many good releases in 2025, it's inevitable there's a few snubs.

Poll Results

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Team Cherry 4
Hades II – Supergiant Games 3
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach – Kojima Productions 2
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Sandfall Interactive 1

Biggest snub for me is clearly Blue Prince. Loved it, and would very much consider it my game of the year. I've only played Hades II and Silksong so far, not sure I'll get to any others before the end of the year

Oh damn, Split Fiction is another snub for me too...

Clair Obscur is the only one of these I've played. I thought it was pretty excellent, albeit with major flaws. I really only play one or two "new" games each year, everything else is catch-up or vault-digging.

Have there been this many indies nominated in years prior? It feels notable that Nintendo is the only "big" company repped here

I've only played Hades II, but have watched my bf play Clair Obscur and Death Stranding 2. Both of those looked pretty good but despite my quibbles on its dedicated thread, Hades II is clearly the greatest. Am slightly obsessed.

agree that Blue Prince shd have been in the list, haven't played any of these and only likely to get round to 2 or 3 of them eventually

only played a bit of donkey kong of these, it's solid but didn't get me in the zone like a lot of the other nintendo 3d platformers do

hate the awards show, its always sooo long without them even presenting all the awards on stage. i end up watching it every few years once i've forgotten how bad it is, but i did last year so this year is a no go

Write in vote for Nightreign

Blue Prince was nominated for Best Independent Game (so was BALL X PIT lmao). I'd be surprised if it beat Clair Obscur or Hades II though.

Gotta go with Hades II here.

Death Stranding 2 or Kingdom Come 2 from that list. Couldn’t give a shit about the rest of them and I’ve played them all for varying amounts of hours. Clair Obscur has the wildest disparity between popular opinion and how I feel about it.

I would take Blue Prince over 4 of the 6 for sure.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Ive played a few of these and mich as I'd love to vote for Death Stranding 2, it suffered from feeling more like a DLC of the first game, with few surprises. Has to be Clair Obscur

Now read it backwards. (dog latin), Wednesday, 10 December 2025 00:38 (one month ago)

I approve of these results.

lol, not sure why I was so grouchy in my post above. All quality games tbh, even if some of them didn’t particularly captivate me.

Intend to return to my DK and Hades saves at some point. And one day Hollow Knight/Silksong will click for me, on paper 100% my shit, don’t know why they don’t stick.

It's hard haha

Silksong is 100% an achievement, even if most people will never achieve 100%.
