1. My large but rather old Trinitron KV-27XBR55 miraculously manifested a very large picture in picture of static that is currently taking up almost a third of the TV screen. I don't have the remote, and there's no way to manually turn off PIP (that I know of) using the buttons on the TV--it's just stuck there. It's way too annoying to deal with, so I can't play console games until next weekend when I can get the remote from my parents' house. :(

hahaha, I knew you'd be posting this.

Fancy a wesnoth?

Jonothong Williamsmang (ex machina), Monday, 10 October 2005 13:23 (twenty years ago)

yeah nice one

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 10 October 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

I was actually pondering that when I was getting baked in Prospect Park today. I think this inauspicious PIP is God's way of telling me to take a break from console games. Wesnoth is go.

2: As mentioned in another thread a while ago, my near-100% Super Mario World save is still wiped, and I haven't re-completed the game. I don't know when the next time I'll be able to bring myself to play Super Mario World again after that tragedy will be.

Are we just bitching here? I had an Xbox for two days before it stopped reading discs (circa January) and I'm apparently so lazy that I still haven't sent it back for repair.

4. My Gyruss arcade cabinet has a burned-out monitor and could definitely use a replacement joystick as well. Will I ever get around to doing anything about this, or will I be forced someday to throw the poor thing out on the street? Sure would help if I knew anything about machine restoration...

5. My PC is too slow to run Counter-Strike: Source. Is this a blessing in disguise?

6. The Nintendo Revolution will not available until next year.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 11 October 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

6a. The (nintendo)revolution will be televised, making Gil Scott Heron a liar.

Jonothong Williamsmang (ex machina), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

isn't that the same as no.1 ?

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:24 (twenty years ago)

6b. The Revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary.

6c. The Revolution will not be brought to you by the Schaefer Award Theatre and will not star Natalie Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:27 (twenty years ago)

6d. The Revolution will not get rid of the nub.

4.5 million clients! Blizzard should spinoff a managed securityservices business. That's a fucking impossible deployment.

TOMBOT, Monday, 17 October 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

9. My Yoshi's Island saved games all erasing themselves.

When this happens, does it mean that the battery is toast for all time? Should I bother starting over or will this just happen again?

Laura H. (laurah), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 02:08 (twenty years ago)

Noooo :( This is what happens to my Super Mario World.
Surely it's possible to replace the battery, right? SNES carts have those awful screws though. I remember hearing someone call them torque, or Torx, or something.

melton mowbray (adr), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 02:30 (twenty years ago)

Replace like THIS

Sounds easy-ish...
