Some mac ones there, and lots of other brilliant games. See Umihara Kawase Shun (or something along those lines) for the playstation, it's phenomenal. Bahamut Lagoon on the snes is there too which, from the couple of hours I played, is also excellent.

If you're having trouble picking, check out psy-no and Torus Trooper on that page.

I am considering shelling out for Plants v Zombies. So much polish.
I have a pirated copy of Diablo II but my video driver doesn't support 256 colors :(((

Mind Wall - cool and amusing for 5 minutes: http://www.codedojo.com/?p=104
― Nhex, Monday, 11 May 2009 00:23 (sixteen years ago)
Plants V Zombies is SO GOOD.

Is there a free option of something like Joy2Key for Mac? I might get Braid but would much rather use my gamepad - all the solutions I've found are shareware programs.
― Nhex, Friday, 22 May 2009 20:13 (sixteen years ago)
Right, so there's Braid, which I haven't played, and Windosill, which I've played one level of and is AWESOME

Windosill was pretty cool, but like The Path (which demo/prologue was released pretty recently) I'm still feeling unsure if I actually want to pay for these purely artistic games. Yeah, I know, in Windosill's case it's the price of a cup of coffee, but still... Braid seems to be a sort of balance, the demo sold me, and I'll probably get it at some point.

just downloaded Halo which seems to work fine - thinking about picking up CoD4 but it seems the single player is only 10 hours long it looks like, maybe good for a plane ride
― a being that goes on two legs and is ungrateful (dyao), Sunday, 9 August 2009 22:01 (sixteen years ago)
also picked up Myth at an estate sale for $1, hope I don't need to run OS9 emulation software or whatever to run it
Anyone recommend those Penumbra games? Only $5 till the end of the day.
― Nhex, Monday, 10 August 2009 00:17 (sixteen years ago)
Anyone know of a good rhythm game that lets you use your own mp3s?
Oh, don't bother, I know there isn't one.

― Nhex, Saturday, 5 September 2009 20:37 (sixteen years ago)
Hmmm ... actually, there is an unofficial port. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
― ok star grumbles (lukas), Sunday, 6 September 2009 08:13 (sixteen years ago)

Already kind of blown through my holiday gaming budget but two sales of note - Machinarium + Samarost 2 for $10 until Xmas:
http://machinarium.net/blog/2009/12/16/amanita-design-christmas-pack-machinarium-samorost2-for-10-60-off/
And Braid got something of a stealth price drop to $10 (about time):

― lana del raymond federman (thomp), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 16:54 (fourteen years ago)
i've been impressed with wineskin wrappers lately; i was able to install deus ex, oblivion, ulillillia's platform masters demo, and others with only a bit of configuration

oh, dope. i happen to be very stupid so only a bit of configuration is good.

I've got a wrapped copy of skyrim that works perfectly.

If you like puzzle games, the sequel to Fool's Errand has (finally!) been released: http://fools-errand.com/
― Andrew Farrell, Friday, 26 October 2012 10:47 (thirteen years ago)
FYI, Hotline Miami finally and unceremoniously released the Mac version, which runs great. The game is Steamworks and Steamplay enabled, so if you buy it for PC you'll be able to play it on either system.

are there any recent rts games that are worth checking out? really enjoyed age of empires ii/mythology, but i wasn't completely sold on the fast-paced starcraft style of gameplay

Steamplay port notice: Retro City Rampage DX. Nicely, I don't to have to buy it again, everyone gets the upgrade for free.

Has to do with the universal access settings crap messing with the steam overlay.
― panettone for the painfully alone (mayor jingleberries), Thursday, 13 November 2014 19:06 (eleven years ago)
That drove me crazy for a couple weeks! Pretty sure the upgrade to Yosemite did it.Finally (fingers crossed) fixed it by closing Steam, removing it from Universal Access, adding it again as a brand new app from that window, and rebooting.
― Nhex, Thursday, 13 November 2014 19:17 (eleven years ago)
But I'll definitely try that command line fix if/when it happens again
― Nhex, Thursday, 13 November 2014 19:18 (eleven years ago)
