never mock the fluttering cape. it'd take away half of your standard FF bosses..

seven years pass...

Shadowrun Returns is out, and they're already working on converting the SNES game into a working campaign.

Bought it today and so far, it really looks like a great way to tell stories. The toolkit comes with the base game, so it should take the modders and content creators just a little bit to come up with several hours of worthwhile playtime.

Seems like more of a toolkit than an out-of-the-box great game from what I gather? All of the reviews seem to say it WILL be something.

The core game is decent; atmospheric, well-written, but brief (about ten to twelve hours), extremely linear (there are only a handful of sidequests, and very few consequences for roleplaying decisions), and for the most part unchallenging. As an introduction to the Shadowrun setting, it works quite well, but hopefully modders will be able to come up with more open-ended campaigns.

To be clear, the base game is quite enjoyable on its own terms; just don't go in expecting Fallout 1 or 2.

I paid $20 for this and am satisfied. I just hope that we don't have to wait too long to get more compelling content out of it.

Also, for folks wanting more, I recommend checking out "Gunpoint," which is a funny little digital gumshoe action megajumping game where you can hack building wiring systems for access and/or boobytraps.

i just got it earlier today and i'm happy with it! i'm planning on just playing through the main campaign, waiting about 6 months, and then downloading the most well received user-generated campaign and going at it again with a different kind of character.
