ico seems like something a chick could be into, and maybe some of that final fantasy shit if she's kinda dorky. one of the first ps2 games i got when it came out was this thing called Shadow of Destiny (konami) that was basically like an action-free adventure/mystery type game involving time travel and shit. it was kinda corny and had bad voice acting but was fairly involving nonetheless, and is pretty non-aggro to boot. there's five different endings that u can get by replaying it.

don't forget, playstation1 games are viable too. it might come off as cheap, but there was some quality shit on that system. i don't know much of anything about ps2 multiplayer stuff, esp. since multiplayer is synonymous w/online play these days.

Why did they get a PS2?
GTA not okay. Madden stupid and overpriced. Final Fantasy requiring 40+ hours of grind and watching cartoons. "Multiplayer" for a lot of folks still means 2 people beating each other up in a small arena. Soul Calibur, I guess. Gran Turismo 4. Burnout 3. And the intellivision classics disc, plus maybe a few others like that.

For the 12 year old I'd suggest something like crash bandicoot. Its fast, its pretty, mildly challenging and it doesn't require a whole lot of involvement. 12 y/o girls can't concentrate on anything for too long.

were it my sister when she was 12, i'd recommend a disney game, but I can't think of any good disney games for PS2/PSX other than Kingdom Hearts, which might be a bit taxing on her attention span.
