I like how when you find a massive item you want to bring back to your mothership, you have to tow it back and as it swings back and forth on its tether it fucks with your momentum/inertia in a realistic way.
Plus if your pod gets destroyed you get to fly around as the tiny pilot dude and die really easily, which is maybe the best part.
