never much liked most football games but i loved 2006 sensible soccer. although once you'd played it and worked out some of the dead cert moves it became all too easy. huge shame it was never made for online play too. are there any plans for an update of this great great game? would be good to play original amiga sensible soccer online too

one of the few games which the PSP sucks at emulating :(

Not mentioned on the links shown above, but a quick peep at Play.com's coming soon section for the Nintendo DS shows that Sensi is coming to DS. Gonna be a good Summer.

I don't think that ever happened. What I wouldn't give for a SWOS DS game right now while I'm stuck on a train. :'(

it didn't or I would have been all over it. maybe it'll start showing up elsewhere once the exclusivity deal w/ XBL wears off (of course I've had similar hopes for Pac-Man CE for nearly a year now and no dice).

ha, just came here to say how i wish someone would make SWOS (orig 97 version) work online so i could play real life people. same as i did 4 years ago. just rediscovered it via that gog.com place and after tons of tinkering about with drivers and ps3 controllers finally got it working and can't stop playing.
finding it kinda tricky though, has anyone got any tips? like how does the ball control mechanism work, i keep finding myself losing the ball if i turn diagonally to shoot at goal.
also it's whet my appetite for a modern football game - what's the best current one for xbox360? something similar to the principles of SWOS, that i can just pick up and play, don't have to learn a billion complex button combinations.
but yeah, easily one of the top 20 games of all time, why oh why can't i play with online buds
and if anyone's interested: http://www.gog.com/game/sensible_world_of_soccer_9697

i don't care all that much for real football so it's kinda nuts seeing the old league tables from 96, with man city in division one and wigan all the way down in 3rd. i realise this is eye-rolling for ya proper footy guys but y'know. did the rules change about listing actual players & team names in games? could a modern SWOS not have them now?

simpler times back then wrt licensing and policing of football's IP
don't think there's a modern day equivalent of SWOS, sadly : /

seems nuts as it's only names and surely that's public domain.
what's the best modern football game? is it the current fifa one? half-tempted to go for something with a bit of a managerial element (if there is one)
― NI, Sunday, 15 December 2013 19:38 (twelve years ago)
All player names are licensed by FIFPro, iirc. Because he isn't a member, Adrian Mutu appears in all the FIFA games as "Andrei Murgu" which is a nice throwback to Sensi. FIFA is peerless and has a management mode if you want it.

istr that even way back then the console versions of sensi had fake player names whereas amiga/pc version had real ones

The link to the PDF instructions on that page is broken, but the PDF is still available here: http://sensiblesoccer.de/dev/app/webroot/files/sensible_soccer_online-tutorial_eng.pdf

thanks SV, which is the best 360 version of FIFA to go for as a total noob who has only ever played sensible soccer (and premier league manager for a few weeks back in the early 90s on an amiga)?
that's amazing sktsh, massive thanks. now just need to convince my mates to play this, probably the most perfect game of all time

I only play online so the newest version (FIFA 14) is always the one to have (as it'll be the same one as everyone else is using). If you don't have Xbox Live or don't want to play online (and don't mind dated players), any version will do, really. FIFA 13 was a perfectly decent iteration of the standard game if you don't want to pay full price for 14.
If you just want something to muck about with, you can get the World Cup 2010 version (which is international only but has every federation, unlike the standard versions) for about £3 including postage on Amazon.

i can't go online on my xbox but if there's not any massive difference between them all i'll get the latest one, thanks for that
