A friend and I finished The Warriors today and unlocked the Double Dragon mode. Wowza!

What are your favourite unlockable extras? Any shitters (concept art et al)?

Double Dragon mode?

Favorite unlockable extra: Warioware for GBA containing a more-or-less full version of Dr. Mario. Saved me twenty bucks.

Extra characters in Tekken et al = Classic.

Concept art, video clips, fucking comic covers (Hi Spiderman!) = Dud.

And yet the "gotta catch 'em all" mentality persists.

I'm thinking six, six, six (noodle vague), Monday, 13 March 2006 22:40 (twenty years ago)

Double Dragon mode?

It's side-scrolling faster-paced Warriors, with the intro from Double Dragon at the start (bloke walks up to Mercy, punches her in the stomach, lifts her over his shoulder and carriers her offscreen)! As difficult as Double Dragon too.

Concept art, video clips, fucking comic covers (Hi Spiderman!) = Dud.

Hahaha, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance had HUNDREDS of these. About 600, perhaps. A wireframe of Scorpion? A picture of the temple level from the second game? A photo of the original arcade cabinet? lol, thx.

Also, what were those pictures of action figures you unlocked in Manhunt all about? If they existed, I would love them. Why show me things I can't have?

EA is known for pulling bullshit with their unlockables. Yay! More adverts and branded items! just what i always wanted!

I kind of liked making the cover of Boy Racing Twat magazine in Need For Speed, even though I knew it was lame.

S:

Tekken Bowl! Unlockable in Tekken Tag Tournament. Totally worth playing, possibly as good a multiplayer game as the game itself.

Virtual Pokemon Mini games within Pokemon Channel. Though it was a shame that a) the game itself was shite, and b) my copy came with a free non-virtual pokemon mini, which defeated the object a bit.

Chicago Typewriter in Resident Evil 4. Come on then you fuckers, you want some!? Also, the Mercenaries game.

Goldeneye multiplayer cheats. Some vital, (no radar), some just really good fun (tiny bond, donkey kong mode, etc).

About 30% of the Mario 64 DS minigames.

Star Wars Arcade in Star Wars Rebel Strike.

D:

Smash Bros trophies. Yeah, some of them are cute. But there's THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of the fucking things, and they're all interesting for about 2 seconds each at most.

Extra ships in Star Wars Rogue Squadron and/or Rebel Strike. Fatally flawed, every last one of 'em. Millennium Falcon especially disappointing, as it flies like a pig.

Hmm, that list makes me look a lot more nintendocentric than I actually am.

I'm playing that old playstation game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night right now, and I suppose that technically the entire second half of the game is an unlockable extra. If you beat the supposed "final boss" without getting a certain item, then the game ends at 100%. If you get the item and then fight the guy, though, you get to play through the whole castle upside down, and by the real end of the game the percent completed is over 200%.

yes but aren't the real unlockables the extra characters and stages? which are quite vitally important and mostly great

i'm trying to think of whether God of War was good for the amount of extras or not, seeing as they were all just movies (albeit interesting ones) ... and God mode

lemin (lemin), Tuesday, 14 March 2006 07:51 (twenty years ago)

whoa! Outrun 2 totally pwns the DESTROY here. Unlockable 'collector cards'? WHATS THE FUCKING POINT!!!?!

Res evil 4 has some amazing unlockables

gta, of course, is great for unlocking new vehicles to play with.

Oh, oh! Ico's 2-player mode. I have a friend who would only consider playing Ico as a 2 player game and has never touched it by himself. The hidden weapons are pretty cool too.

S: the alien costume in Tony Hawk: American Wasteland.
