This is a cute shmup from some guys who know how to do it right; highly varied, highly customizable weaponry, an armada of entertainingly designed enemies, and a complete video game metal shred soundtrack.

Also, you know how in G.I.Joe, they'd always eject right as their planes blew up? Well, in this one, you can blast the ejecting pilots.

You, sir, may have just made my day.

Dammit, i figure more of you would go nuts for this, just for the soundtrack alone.

sleep (sleep), Saturday, 13 May 2006 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

heh. The full game is great. Most of you guys would enjoy the level set at a heavy metal festival. The fans seem better armed and a tad more hostile than most.

kingfish du lac (kingfish 2.0), Monday, 12 June 2006 14:26 (nineteen years ago)

Jets'n'Guns is a heavy piece of ground shaking rock blasting action dressed in full metal jacket colored to kill in graphics that will blow you eyes out!

Enjoy yourself in almost-insane-action of saving the universe from the deadly threat of twelve masters of destruction in the quest of 21 levels! Stand as one-against-many armed with fifty different pieces of classy armament fitted tightly to a swish body of only yours spaceship!

Man.

I need more coffee.

lord pooperton (ex machina), Monday, 12 June 2006 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

still, try the demo at least. comes in pc and mac flavours.

the music is best described as like those load install screens you'd get with warez'd games i.e. totally awesome.

kingfish du lac (kingfish 2.0), Monday, 12 June 2006 15:09 (nineteen years ago)

Kingfish, have you ever seen any old demoscene shit?

lord pooperton (ex machina), Monday, 12 June 2006 15:16 (nineteen years ago)

FUCK YEAH!
THAT'S what they should do with modern GFX/proc/mem capabilities!
Make games LOOK better and not slow down!

There's nothing wrong with a good Shmup and this looks like it could be fun as hell.

The GZeus (The GZeus), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

unfortunately, the power metal soundtrack is only really thrashin' on a handful of levels.

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

In retrospect, shmup + health bar = sad Will

Will M. (Will M.), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

I'm the opposite.
Instant death ala Darius leaves me with one uncompleted level, and an otherwise unplayed game in the closet.
"Why bother? It'll take me a year to finish it, and since there's not so much as a password, I'll have to play through it over and over just to figure out where I'm supposed to be on the screen when one tiny tiny guy fires several fans of sliver-sized darts at me that I can't MOVE out o the path of."
Yeah.
Darius 2 for the saturn.
I got to the end of level two with the help of someone better than me.
We both threw in the towel after we ran out of continues for the first time.

I love this game.
Not sure when I'm gonna buy it.
Depends on if I get a Sega CD this month.

The GZeus (The GZeus), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

Got the Sega CD.
Next month.
