seconded. Also Tetris, Castlevania (!!!!!), the new brain game, final fantasy tactics should be used.

Tales of Phantasia has a fairly exciting battle system.

My brother in law says anybody with a DS should get Lost In Blue.

you can email me if you wish to challenge the truth (nickalicious), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

i can't believe partners in rhyme is $50!! that's outrageous!! maybe i'll just get age of empires, i've been putting that off.

Surprisingly, Trauma Center: Under the Knife is incredibly good fun.

For those in the US, Final Fantasy 4 Advance and Tales of Phantasia are $8.96 each at Circuit City at the moment. Picked em both up last week. s1ocki, have you played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance? It should be cheap now (also on sale at CC though I know that doesn't help you) and it's some of the most fun I had with the GBA.

I can't speak for its replay value since I'm still working my way through it, but I could make a case for Mario & Luigi being my favorite game DS game full stop - I usually get bogged down in RPGs since I pick up and put down games for weeks at a time without a second thought (and thereby get stuck when a game demands you remember some arcane little event from like ten game-time hours ago to solve some puzzle in order to proceed), but so far M&L has been outstanding at keeping its puzzles relatively self-contained. And of course the battle system is nothing less than a treat.

I have also gotten a remarkable amount of playtime from Metroid Prime Pinball. I am not so much with the whole mythology-of-Metroid angle, but it's a really well-designed pinball game with lots of shit to do and really good control. Plus you get the rumble pack for free, which is nice (and which definitely enhances M&L-playing).

On the GBA front, I have basically had Baseball Advance in my GBA whenever I haven't had the rumble pack in, but it's kinda hard to find and you might not want a baseball game (especially one as limited as BA in terms of season mode, where you can't even trade players). There is also Riviera, which I eagerly anticipate starting as soon as I finish M&L, and (if you can find it) River City Ransom Advance, which is exactly what it sounds like. And of course Wario Ware Twisted borders on unimpeachable, but that kinda goes without saying.

Oh yeah, Metroid Pinball is amazing.

I think I might buy Trauma Centre today! I got to stop playing AnimalXing for like, 4 hours a day, its a bit wrong.

why did i never see any reviews or hype regarding wario ware for the ds?? it went completely over my head!

what are our thoughts on phoenix wright? replay value?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 29 June 2006 04:27 (nineteen years ago)

Wario Ware looks awesome, but if it's anything like the GBA ones, it's the kind of game that you can't prevent yourself from wearing out in 2 hours.

antexit (antexit), Thursday, 29 June 2006 14:29 (nineteen years ago)

Not a lot of replay value from Phoenix Wright (you already know the solutions), but it is very fun when you first play it.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Thursday, 29 June 2006 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

how much fun do you get out of it, roughly?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 29 June 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

Apparently it's not as much fun as the GBA ones since you actually figure out what you need to be doing instead of just figuring out how to press one button successfully.

Wait! How is this wrong??
