Hey, this game is really, really neat.

Haven't played it, looks cute though.

i want it.

It's more than cute. It even has a decent fighting system and awesome bosses.

"Availability: Preorder - Sep-2006" according to Game. No such game, according to Amazon :(

are you in the US? it came out here on tuesday, and I know several people who've gotten it through Amazon.

NYT just had a piece on it.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 22 September 2006 14:18 (eighteen years ago) link

I only played for an hour but I love just jumping around and painting the word "fuck" a bunch of times. I am clearly the lowest common denominator of gamer. SO PRETTY.

Will M. (Will M.), Saturday, 23 September 2006 16:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Okay so this game is awesome. I've only put like 90 minutes into it but I've never had so much fun digging up turnips while avoiding an angry farmwife. As a god-wolf.

adam (adam), Monday, 25 September 2006 12:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Haha yeah, I'm at about that point. I just made the drunk lazy wanna be warrior dude think he chopped up the giant boulder. I'm splitting time between this and Yakuza, but I think Yakuza is gonna come first because it's shorter and I'm more into the story. This is a great game, though.

I really wish things would stop coming out THE FOLLOWING FUCKING SPRING in the UK, I've half a mind to replace my knackered Swap magic and get down to some stealin'.

Confirmed for wii for real y'all - spring 2008

I'm excited since I never quite got around to playing the ps2 version (except to try it out at a bit at my brother's house), even though it was on my list. Seems like the wii version should make a good fit... i.e. should be easier to draw those brush strokes...

It'd be nice if they'd let you skip the first hour.

polyphonic, Thursday, 18 October 2007 21:20 (seventeen years ago) link

The longest opening spiel I have ever seen.

antexit, Thursday, 18 October 2007 23:22 (seventeen years ago) link

Longer than MGS3?

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 18 October 2007 23:23 (seventeen years ago) link

My god yes. I couldn't even play the damn game.

forksclovetofu, Friday, 19 October 2007 00:06 (seventeen years ago) link

man if I lived through Super Paper Mario, I can (and will, with world-conquering ebullience) live through this

jamescobo, Friday, 19 October 2007 16:18 (seventeen years ago) link

MGS3 was like torture.

polyphonic, Friday, 19 October 2007 16:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Imagine that, but much much longer, and instead of a cool guy jumping out of an airplane and an interesting story about world politics it's static pictures of mythical animals nobody gives a shit about with a crawling caption you can't speed up.

antexit, Friday, 19 October 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link

It's great fun when you sit through that first hour and immediately press the wrong button and reset the game and have to do it all again. GREAT FUN.

Autumn Almanac, Thursday, 29 November 2007 22:04 (seventeen years ago) link

Why the fuck developers think it's a neat idea to write unskippable, enormous, REALLY slow cut scenes is beyond me. If I want to watch 90 minutes of movie I'll watch a fucking movie.

Autumn Almanac, Thursday, 29 November 2007 22:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Seriously, I DID NOT PLAY THIS GAME solely because I got bored with the intro.

forksclovetofu, Thursday, 29 November 2007 22:41 (seventeen years ago) link

I got to about halfway through the game. I've heard it gets better after that but I'd seen enough. It's totally gorgeous and unique, but just not very fun.

polyphonic, Thursday, 29 November 2007 22:56 (seventeen years ago) link

I got... uh, about an hour in and got confused. Too much wacky fighting-wolves-in-bubbles action. I'll go back to it eventually (cost me $100 ffs) but I don't see myself devouring it in one sitting.

any chance this new okami game cd be made by platinum? I know capcom and platinum are probably not on very good terms following the collapse of clover but platinum are still to deliver the fourth game of their four-game contract with sega.

is it possible capcom could 'license' the okami IP to sega? ... can but dream, I guess. besides, mad world, infinite space, bayonetta, okamiden would be a streak for the record books!

cozwn, Thursday, 27 August 2009 20:31 (fifteen years ago) link

didn't they "forget" to put the closing credits in the Wii port?

Nhex, Thursday, 27 August 2009 21:47 (fifteen years ago) link

I guess it makes sense that it's coming to DS. At least we can feel confident the drawing part of the game will (finally) actually work

Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 06:31 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm hyped

cozwn, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 09:31 (fifteen years ago) link

The best thing about Okami though was how great the graphics were - definitely one of the top 5 best looking ps2 games...

Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 16:26 (fifteen years ago) link

"The Okamiden project is being handled by a Capcom internal staff led by producer Motohide Eshiro (Ace Attorney) and director Kuniomi Matsushita, who worked on the Dino Crisis games and directed the group that ported the original Okami to the Wii last year."

Good memories of playing the first one with my niece watching, all those years ago. It's nice to see Capcom revisit some dormant IPs at long last...
