srsly, how amazing is this game? it plays rather similarly to Elite.
i'm currently (re)playing the newer version, with all fancy graphics and stuff.

open-ended sea-faring! cannons! booty! etc!

when i finish my game, i'll post up my STATS and stuff.
assuming you guys dig this game. and if you don't... you should (be shot).

just checked wiki - the original Pirates! was available for mac, bu the remake isn't.

also, i liked how the "attractiveness of the guv'nor's daughter" was generally represented by how big her gozoingas were and how much they were displayed

Lots of people have told me I'd love this. I've just started playing X3:Reunion instead though. Which is also a lot like Elite.

I loved this on the NES! So relaxing and open ended, like Toejam and Earl with pirates. You'd have thought I'd have the Megadrive version too, but it seems pretty hard to come across. Infact, I don't think I've ever played it. I did play Pirates! Gold on the PC though.

(It's the Xbox version, and it does have a divide the plunder option).

no plunder dividing would destroy a fundemental gameplay mechanic!

i'm possibly gonna start a new game of this tonight. the one thing that really annoys me about this game: getting old. you slow down, so so much! and if you lose your swordplay items at a ripe old age, you're fucked.
