My First Console: PS2 or X360?

aka DUMBEST QUESTION EVER, aka NEED TO CILL TIME BEFORE GOING HOME, but I'll ask it anyway, tho I already know the answer. The sitch: I'm moving into my own place in a month, and will no longer have access to my roomy's nu 360, and will be buying my very first gaming console ever (oh wow). That I'll end up w/ both is a given, but what first!?!?! Tho I already know the answer.

you can get the ps2 for dirt cheap i'm sure and old games are $20 and there's a billion used games out there. and good games are still coming out for it.

Yeah, the 360 looks on track to have the same number of exclusive good games as the Xbox = about 1 a year. PS2 all the way.

PS2, Good lord.
The 360 is the biggest joke I've seen ever.

To me it's like a Laseractive that works(nothing was ever 100% on those).
Expensive as hell, too much crammed into one box, not enough games, backwards compatible KINDA, piles of pointless features, 'uprgadable to the plus model with just a few accessories!' decision to support a next-gen video format far from that pinnacle available, the idea it should integrate into your home theatre(yeah, cramming piles of digital gear with various refresh rates is GREAT for audio -_-)...

I hate that thing.
The PS3 doesn't look any more promising, but for different reasons.
The Wii is the only thing I've seen that's going to be doing the SMART thing: finally embrace video gaming's past and NATIVELY support emulation of systems that it's 100% capable of emulating fully.
If they take that and attach an iTunes-like Wii-specific rom format download service, ina couple years my rom collection might be legal.
I mean, I'll probably end up using someone else's Wii until I have piles stored, but damn.

In the mean time there are alot of great PS2 games and plenty of PS1 games I'd be willing to play.
I'd be modding, though...

There are already a bunch of 360 games that make it worth owning. The PS2 has a great backlog if you haven't played them, though. It just seems like a bad time to buy it since very little new stuff is slated apart from Okami and Guitar Hero 2 and the franchises.
